I just want them to get to the point where if we disconnect and log back in our ships and bodies are where they left off. I want to take a C2 out with a ROC and just mine and pile boxes of minerals up and live on my ship for months.

I think you are right about ARGO. I was picturing an Origin G12 with a mining arm instead of missiles, with room for two in the cabin!

You wouldn't be too crazy to think Origin could make a mining vehicle. Semi truck engines are usually made by diesel engine companies, like Detroit Diesel (which sounds rugged), but a few are also made by Volvo. Which I usually think of as pretty nice cars. Not Origin nice, but still.

Yeah not impossible, good point about Volvo.

If CiG wanted to go realistic with corporations and stuff, they shouldn't make every brand a 100% separate entity. If you look at Volvo Trucks, they own Renault Trucks (lol weird..) and also Mack, among others.

Then there is Scania, the mostest bestest truckest truck of Europe, and they are 100% owned by the makers of the blandest most overpriced fake-premium heap of junks: VW, who also happens to own the "best damn everyday sportscar" brand, Porsche. So yeah, what I'm trying to say is that all these currently sperate brands could own the smaller brands, and thus share stuff among them.
What I would suggest in this case, is to introduce ARGO as a company actually owned by Origin, and have cheap-ish ARGO mining machines, and maybe a luxury miner variant branded Origin.

This way they can more freely recycle assets, like "re-skins" in other games, but they could justify it in-universe by saying this brand is a sub of the other bigger brand lol

No, just no! Trying to model SC brands like real life brands would be so insane it'd require an entire separate studio to do. The crazy shit that goes on in real life with who owns what is a massive mindfuck.

Just look at the chart!

But mah immershun!!!

LoL, fair point, it would be a total mofo. Especially CIG would go way too far with it Btw that image is farily simple and self explanatory, I've seen some pics like this, that had like 3-5 levels inbetween lol.

To be honest, I kinda don't like it that with almost every new weapon and armor, we get a new brand as well, with brand image, logo, design language research and docs and background and ... omfg what a waste of time at this point in the development! I swear bunchin them up under a couple of big brands like irl would be far less work... But if CiG thinks they have the resources to make a new brand for every item in the game, and still keep pushing them out on time, then who am I to say they shouldn't lol

I honestly believe the art team is paid to come up with new ones just because their art is much faster to churn out than gameplay and ships. I could be wrong, but wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason.

Probably true!
The brand logos are at least reusable for neon signs and ads around cities and spaceports, so it's not a complete waste for sure.
Still I feel like it's a bit much. While I know ship brands and what type of ship to expect from them (Aegis=combat, Origin=luxury...) ,I can't remember a single armor or weapon or component brand and what they are good at, cos there's so many!

Actually the brand is worked out by different teams: logo are produced by a single person that is actually a logo-brand artis (there was an ISC not long ago about him), while the background is writted by the lore team...

Persoanlly I like to have different brand for weapons, ship, armor etc... that as far as it doesn't create some minusculus brand with only one product, like, for exaple, Kruger intergalactic that onòy procude the Merlin/Archimedes and a laser cannon... if not expanded in the future will became a wortless brand.
