Its my understanding that the corvette is a military escort ship built to be fast and handle fighters and other ships below its weight class. Its not meant to take on capital ships or other large ships with big guns. You have the retaliator with its torpedos for that. Its snub bay is similar to the connies in that its not a full hangar. Someone mentioned that you would need 4 -5 of these to be able to remotely try and take down an Idris. The carrack comes with 1000 Scu cargo the Idris M = 860, Idris P = 1720 so Im not really expecting much cargo carrying capacity for this ship and only medium armor for it srole.

This is going to be one of the most commonly seen multi crew military ships in the verse. I've always said I expect it to be less than $500. The next big ship will probably be the Carrier escort ship the Pegasus with a capacity to carry 30 fighters. This I would see going for a very premium pricing of around $800 to a 1000.
Considering the escort carrier is over 700m long, almost 3x as big as the Javelin, I would doubt very much CIG would sell it. And even if they did, expect it to be over the $5000 mark quite easily, since the Javelin is $2500 by itself.

...no...shit...Sherlock.
Wow...thanks... Was good while it lasted... It's one thing to sarcastically banter, but to then make it personal with pointless hand gestures....wow...

The internet is great for bringing people together, it's bad for recognizing tone of comments.

I know both of you were just joking in your own way, sometimes it's hard to tell someone is saying something with a sarcastic grin when all you have to go off of is text and memes.

Actually there is no real way to move any fighters across the verse. If organisation battles and ship to ship combat for resources are to be a reality, this ship is a very essential part of any fleet. Despite its size I feel more or less it will be similar to the carriers of today with its only offensive capabilities comming from its own fighters and accompanying destroyers and frigates.

I don't see this as being expensive not because its large but because its an eesential part of any large organisation and should not be really exclusive

Any fighter can move across the verse they just need to stop to refuel. The carrier wont be released because they dont want 1 organization that could afford them to have multiple of them and have a huge leap at the start of the game. You already see people flocking to squadrons based on how many capital ships they have.

As far as armaments, the bengal has multiple railguns that come from the idris. The panther on its model was also heavilly armed. These things appear to not just rely on their fighter and support ships but can hold their own.

Salt, those ships you compared it too are not dedicated carriers though, its like comparing a modern Destroy with a modern Carrier, they aren't compatible. the Destroyer can deploy a gunship/transport but relies heavily on its own defenses, Carriers on the other hand have almost exclusively Point Defense systems like the Vulcan Miniguns, other than that they can't pack a punch, but their dedicated air wings can. The Idris is a frigate, its meant to hold its own, same with a destroyer or a cruiser. Carriers by name can't hold their own in a fight without their air wings.

You also have to realize, while the Idris and the Likes will probably be a formidable opponent, their weapons systems are most likely to be geared towards other captial ship sized vessels, not smaller ships, hence retaliators and the likes in nice 4-6 man formations would almost certainly disable if not destroy an idris.

As far as fighters moving across the verse, they can, and they cant, not all of them will have jump drives from the start, and not all of them will have the fuel capacity to make it as far as some of the other ships. I dont see these ships as being huge advantages to anybody, even a large group, especially at the start, because im willing to put money down and say that 75% of the player base on release will focus largely on doing their own thing. Not to mention, you would need to find a crew for the carrier, and for the fighters and bombers on it.

I never compared the destroyers to carriers. I used them as an example of people going to squadrons that have more capital ships. Having a true carrier would cause a power shift for the wrong reasons.

The bengal and pegasus are both the premier carriera and both are heavilly armed. The bengal has multiple of idris railguns as i said before and that railgun is one of the biggest in the imperium. They are very much capable of holding their own.

I fail to see where i compared destroyers or idris to a carrier.

I dont doubt that a formation of hunter-killer group would kill a idris but it will be a group not a single one. No capital ship should travel by itself except maybe the corvette.

All ships sold except snub fighters and specialty ship ie dragonfly have jump drive and q drive. You can remove it for weight saving or other components but it still has one.

FYI, I did see a certain ship during my Visit at CIG Austin (I refuse to say what it is, I'll let your imagination run rampant).

That said, $450 is an amazing price for an amazing ship. I look forward to it.

It's going to be a pretty interesting ship, and I really hope that it is kept as an anti-subcap ship rather than having a hangar.
I really hope that crewing ships is viable in paying hangar fees, since I want to try my hand as engineering.
