RSI Hermes going for $200.

288SCU, pretty good mid sized, nice wide open cargo area.

Size comparison puts it as long as a connie.

Notes: all 4 S4 guns are pilot controllable. Only 2 of the 4 S2 shields can be active at a time. Poor SCM and rotations. Excellent storage. 4.4 sig gives good sneak for a ship this size. Best in class to deploy Dragonflies with rail guns.

Except for the nice paint and a little more cargo space I see no reason to swich from a Conny. Especially not from a Taurus.
Same price, 4x S5 Guns and a (fully usable... na, na,na,naaaa-haaa!) shield at pretty much the same top-speed and maneuverability.
Some may say that having a flat shape let's you more easily "Millenium Falcon" through the asteroid field but in my experiece that never works as intended.
Chances are those Buccaneers and Gladiuses won't pop before you do.
I will give it a try (got enough store credits) but I'd be surprised if it sticks... 😙

Shields are fixed in the 4.6 PTU. My Redeemer, Retaliator, Asgard and Super Hornet Mk II all take longer to recharge but all have all their shields counting to the pool.

So was this limit that only some shields will run at a time a feature, or a bug? I had heard CiG intended to limit ships with many shields to just two available at a time, and that is what erkul shows. When I saw just two working on the Hermes, I checked the Tally, and it likewise only registered two working.

So CIG made the change and then unmade it, and erkul has yet to catch up?

First TEST of the Hermes:
Does the Nursa fit?
It does quite comfortably.
Once you remove the wheels and jack it up with a few boxes of white underwear you have in surplus anyway.
Freight wise you still got around 220SCU left for other Shenannigans...

Come tommorrow I'll actually try flying that thing. 😽
(PS: NO! That's not a scene from Borderlands 4. Had to look twice myselve though...)

For ships with more than two shields, the 'spares' kick in when one of the active ones goes down. And yes, it works or was working in PTU. It's a feature, although one that leaves me scratching my head.
It is supposed to be when a shield goes down another snaps on. I'm not sure if this is the actual mechanic or if their HP are there anyway. No practical difference, either way.

Regen is much slower though.

Since I have an Asgard, I don't see the point.

Like most RSI ships, to me, it looks ugly. I suppose it is nice to have the built in tractor beam.

Watching your video Boss, the Connie is Size 4, the Hermes is size 5. (I believe the Tali is the biggest size 4 ship.)

Both Size 4 and 5 are classed as "Large."

For those that are newer
  • Size 1 is snubs
  • Size 2 is small (Most fighters and single seaters)
  • Size 3 is medium (Vanguard and similar)
  • Size 4 and 5 are large
  • Size 6 is capital
CIG doesn't use those numbers on customer facing charts any more but they are still in the code that way.

I was skeptical at first. The rear entrance is more narrow than it really needs to be, but...

I had zero issues loading this sucker FULL of 32SCU boxes. I easily squished in 12 x 32SCU boxes and 1 x 24SCU, along with a few smaller ones.

It fit 408 SCU relatively easily, and using the onboard tractor beam was the first ship based one I actually liked. The rail slide it does is sweet.

On another set of cargo missions, I fit in 368 (16SCU boxes) + 88 (8SCU boxes) so 23 x 16SCU boxes and 11 x 8 SCU boxes for a total of 456 SCU!

Everything loaded and unloaded easily though. I'm impressed. For cargo, it's a nice medium hauler that lets you take on some of the large missions.

Fuel consumption was amazing. when I finished it cost me 160 credits for the regular fuel and a tiny amount for the little quantum fuel I used. (Area18<->Baijini x 2)

Made 420K'ish in creds in the little time it took load and fly back and forth. I will be testing it more, but so far, it's a great medium hauler.
