I remember them saying that ammo would be carried in storage crates and would be replenished by moving ammo into a dedicated reloading area, BUT
This ship has no cargo area to carry extra ammo. It's also yet another thing they need to create and then update for all the ships out there. It's also a decision they need to make on what ships will allow ammo loading and which ones will not.

I can imagine the conundrum when one has to choose between another box of ammo or a bucket to cack in. Rare miss by RSI, that's a Drake problem.

Gunner: We're out of ammo sir... its time!
Captain: aye.. load the cack buckets and fire. and may god have mercy on us all.
It's like a really horrible version of the Jamming device in Spaceballs.

I had a hunch that the Meteor might be slightly more expencive than the Mantis ..:

..but this is a ripp-off...
(Still got it with store credits to TEST. But I doubt it's a keeper...)

I was thinking of getting it to just try out also, but when I saw the price I noped out.

That is... too much $$ for what you get.

Back to my first impression of just passing on it.

For that kind of money you can get a Drake Corsair, a Connie Taurus or Andromeda, one of the Crusader Ares Fighters or the Mercury , an F7c MK II Super Hornet, a Vanguard Warden, a Mirei Guardian or a Misc Starlancer.
All in the 300~$ price range
Dare I say that in this collection the Meteor is hardly my first pick..?

So the Meteor is now in Erkul and has some more surprises for us.

First off what is not a surprise: since it has an S1 reactor and 0/0 armor, it is highly stealthable, with guns on, an EM of 3.5k and IR of just 1.3k. This means it can almost come within range of its S5 guns unseen. Targets will have <1s warning, which is the same as none. The guns have a reduced range compared to most other S5, but still reach out to 2814m. They Alpha strike at 3200 and of course with such big ballistics will do terrible internal damage to whatever they hit.

I fitted 4 NDB 30 for dogfighting. Their Alpha is another 300, so 3500 Alpha from the sneak. If instead you load 4 M5A laser cannons, their Alpha is 2700, so your combined Alpha strike is 6,200+. Insane.

The big surprise to me is it carries 6 missile launchers which allow 2 6S2 Rattler strikes plus 2 4S2. That’s a wild missile loadout, with Alpha missile salvoes hitting for 24k damage. This is more than the Firebird since Rattler S2 do significantly more damage than any S3 you can shoot from a Firebird. With all the guns turned off, the EM drops to 2.4k, making this ship invisible at optimal missile strike range. Rattlers can arm, lock, fire, travel 2km and go boom in just 4s. What fighter can withstand a 24k damage Alpha strike? If your target is a Vanguard, fire again.

All this in the stealth, speed and agility of a medium fighter. I’m not certain but I think this is the heaviest hitting fighter in the ‘verse.

I personally doubt this will escape the nerf bat. I expect the S3 guns will be swapped for S2. Regardless, I want one. They just need to triple the size of that deplorable. . .I mean “deployable” gun locker.

They already nerfed the S5s by cutting their range back from the Deadbolt V’s 3300. I think this is part of the reason for making it proprietary. The Alpha strike is 70% higher than the Deadbolt, however. So they’re about as kick ass as can be for Alpha, short of putting the proprietary Tonk guns on it (a pair of which would Alpha for 64k and have 6km range.) A pair of Tonk guns would have been sensational but totally out of game balance.

I think they’ll knock the 4S3 down to 4S2, like the nose on the Vanguard.

Years ago CIG told us we would be able to choose our armor, and specifically mentioned “Void Armor”. If this thing had the 15/15 armor of the Hornet Ghost, it could orbit large ships constantly blasting and not be seen. I don’t believe the old stories, but one can still hope.

With the Prowler’s Uber 65/63 armor this would be a nightmare. The biggest difference between this and the Guardian is the Guardian has absolutely shit armor and cannot be stealthed at all. I think they are teasing pilots to try to run these big cannons against a large ship and find the gun range is just short of what the pilot wants. With your shields off you can still do it, but it’s dangerous as hell. You need to orbit elliptical instead of circular. Needs some fancy flying.
