Hello from GMT+2, if you could have some hot chocolate ready for me an hour ago that would be nice :)
Well, yes, wait...you...you want a HOT chocolate when out there of - wherever you are (WHERE ARE YOU?! In the tent somewhere in the Sahara??) - your place are 44°C!?

@Sam K Macer Sorry to hear you're sick! Get better soon my friendly neighbourhood barrista! (We don't want you sneezing on the Mocha Latte Con Vodka! :)
@MzHartz Sorry to hear your head hurts. I find over thinking leads me to awkward self introspection... which fuels my drinking.
@Zapp Brannigan You should totally visit Germany! It's not the plants that are different, it's the CULTURE! (They drink there, socially, during the day! Also, they have these hotdogs in bagettes stuffed with melty cheese.... )

@Sam K Macer Your garden is amazing. I like it. So.. so green! Those flowers look like they're from a Disney film! The shrubs and brushes are perfectly placed. That loose cobblestone is perfectly placed to trip intruders! and LILACS! :)
Thanks man, thats nice of you :) We only have a small garden of about 500m², but its fine for us and we are in it every sunny (free) day. Its fun and its relaxing. And its a grave for money, far more worse than SC :D

So, tell me: when have you visited Germany - and where did you get these disgusting cheese hot dogs??:confused::D It is funny to read and hear what non-Germans think we are (and eat). According to them we are eating Sauerkraut and cheese hot dogs, drinking beer the whole day and wearing leather suits of all kind.

I'M OKAY WITH ALL OF THAT - because this meme puts it straight:

http://dirndl.motifake.com/image/demotivational-poster/1007/prejudices-against-germany-girls-beer-dirndl-nazis-demotivational-poster-1279401496.jpg

;) :D

I've never been abroad except for neighbouring countries like France, Netherlands, Denmark or Czech Republik [edit]or Eastern Germany:eek::D[/edit]. Therefore I can understand such funny "assumptions" for in my opinion all people within the USA are eating junkfood, Canadians only barbecue - and both have problems with their bodyweight.:D I tell you what: drink more coffee! Its low in calories and keeps you awake - well, unless you drink too much of it. Damn adverse drug effects :D
You knew that? The effect of coffeine reverses if you drink too much of it over a longer period of time. Drinking coffee on a daily, better said hourly basis, your body increases the amount of adenosine receptors to prevent them to be blocked by the coffeine molecules - which basically is the cause of the "keep awake effect" of coffeine. Therefore, some day your body has build up a huge amount of adenosine receptors which can't be blocked by coffeine molecules anymore, even by drinking coffee the whole day. Result: you are permanently tired. Cure: don't drink coffee any more. If you wanna read more: http://www.caffeineinformer.com/caffeine-tolerance
To say you that: I've been through this - and it's Hell itself. I was tired over two, three months. For two years I didn't drink a cup of coffee. But someday I couldn't resist anymore - and the first coffee was like a turbo, hell yeah! :D A couple of years later, as to say: today, I again drink way too much coffee. But I try to have days without coffee or at least a maximum of one or two cups.

Ergo: as every "soft drug" consume it self-conscious - and with relish (if thats the correct word). ;)

Nice backyard Sam. Here's mine right now. Haha. 5:45am in beautiful Wainwright, Alberta

*brrrrr* Looks frosty. Thanks for posting that pic! Hey, we've also had snow this weekend, a temperature drop from 20°C to nearly 0°C  So, i assume: playing war at that frosty temperatures which your photograph shows is not real fun, is it?

Just one more week and I'll be back on the night shift where I belong... til then, keep the caffeine coming please!
Wait - you *belong* to the night (shift)? Why is that? I'm more in daylight and sunlight, you know? :D

Hope you feel better soon. A friend recently had a lingering (2+ weeks) cold and was being stubborn until she lost hearing in one ear. Finally went to the doctor and antibiotics cleared it up almost immediately.
Speaking of food prejudices, I saw a German cooking video where they put honey on fried eggs with bacon. Something I would have never considered. Is that a common thing or was the chef just being creative? I tried it and it was delicious.

Actually, it's not bad in the winter. In the winter, it's cold, but you're dry.

But right now, in the spring, not so nice: It's wet. And being wet and cold is not so fun.
That being said, I'm having a great time. :D

Well I don't even consider wearing shorts until it starts creeping above 35°C, it can get pretty toasty here in Cape Town and it can often reach 50 in some of the places I work. I consider hot chocolates in warm weather my personal Everest...I like chocolate.

Not common - but sounds interesting. "Common" is, besides that, a relative thing: in Berlin for instance, "Berliner Weiße" (1), "Currywurst" and "Döner Kebap" (2) are common, in Munich you have to eat "Weißwurst" (with "Brezel" and sweet mustard) or "Leberkäs" (3) (exception: during Oktoberfest it is "Brathendl" and "Maß"(4)), in Thüringen the "Thüringer Bratwurst" (5); visiting perhaps Wolfsburg try the "Currywurst" which is served the workers at the Volkswagen site (6), in Frankfurt its "Würstchen mit Kartoffelsalat" (7) [which I don't like]; within the "Schwabenland" (Schwaben) AND Munich/Bayern of course you can eat "Schweinshaxe and Sauerkraut" (8). Coming to the far north-east of Germany, following the first frosty nights you can (and should) eat the so-called "Grünkohl" which is served with lots of both, "Kassler" and "Pinkel" (9). And in Hamburg, well, most tourists are told that they have to taste "Labskaus" (10); well, this is...a matter of taste :D

For sure, these are not all dishes which are called "common. And this ones for sure, to the most of these meals are served more or less alcoholics; the more you are in the north of Germany, the more drinks are offered (in my experience), especially when its "Grünkohl"-serving time :D

Good Morning! Still ill - it even rhymes, yeah :D
Be fine and healthy everyone, have a good start into this fresh week!
Get better soon! That sounds like a hell of a sickness.

They were out of cardamom soda for my fuzzy petal this morning. So I guess I'll just take a latte...

Because I love waking up at noon and staying up til about 4 am. It's just when I feel like I have the most actual productive time, instead of doing eyelid powerlifting.

Have a good night. I wonder: is it Sunday or Monday evening at your location, Zapp?
It is Monday right now... and when I posted that it was 00:13 today.

To address some of the other themes in this thread, I am American and I don't really like sweets but I *do* barbecue a lot. I have admitted to @Blind Owl and @CrudeSasquatch , though, that I was probably born in the wrong country but to be fair I am originally from Montana which is pretty much Canada. I live in Eastern Washington State now, which is a bit different from Montana.

I *love* German culture and I do plan on visiting one day. My great-grandmother immigrated to the United States from Germany (she was part Jewish, I will let you draw conclusions on why); so I grew up with *strong* German traditions. It really seems like a beautiful country both naturally and culturally. Ich spreche auch ein wenig Deutsch.

This is where I live now (Kennewick, WA):

This is where I used to live (Bozeman, MT):

Oh... no... I think I've discovered why I feel tired all of the time. It might... MIGHT... be the pot of coffee I drink at noon, and the pot of tea I drink at 7pm...

We have the same sleep schedule!

@Sam K Macer those pictures you posted of plates with sausages and one piece of a vegetable, that's what I think German food is like. :)
I traveled to Berlin and Munich (Munchen?) in the spring of 2008. Very nice places. There was a soccer (football?) tournament going on, and I wandered around getting drunk with Germans and Turkans, jumping up and down spilling our beer, and yelling national pride songs about how well we watched other people chase after a ball. I visited some of the oldest breweries, drank from a boot, and watched American's barf all over the cobblestones. If I could do it all over again, I'd stay an extra month and hike into the woods / farmland, and check out the older more off the track castles and historical sights.

Also, it's true, as a Canadian, I BBQ constantly and consider myself overweight. :D

@Zapp Brannigan The picture for your new home is blank. The picture for your old home gives me nostalgia. Very nice! Such a green mountain! Why is it not under a glacier? So strange! World of Wonders!

Pictures should be fixed...

Bozeman, MT is a pretty place... you have to go further north for glaciers. The picture is actually of Montana State University (my alma mater) and that is the Bridger mountain range in the background.

Jesus, I'd never wear shorts if I waited for those temps. ;)
Well it peaks around 44, average summer temperature is probably 25 in and 14 in winter
At 14℃, I've already been wearing shorts for 4 degrees. Haha. 14℃ in Canada is getting to be beach weather. Spring and fall temps. I'm extremely jealous of you right now, lol.
I am originally from Montana which is pretty much Canada. I live in Eastern Washington State now, which is a bit different from Montana
You are Canadian @Zapp Brannigan. Through and through. Don't fight it. ;) Look, I have beer on ice and the BBQ is fired up. Come on over. You know you want to...
