No, it’s not. No one thought that way during the 14 pages I defended Ahsoka. You want to be known for censoring open discussion? Is that the hill to die on?

WTF did you come here to poison the well for? Trying to prove you can control people? Are you going to celebrate that you cancelled a thread? What an accomplishment. I guess though the jig is up. You can’t call yourself a “liberal” anymore.

Interesting idea. But as much as I may appreciate them, I have questions about whether those actors, at the ages they are at, could carry a Star Wars film as the lead characters at this point. Look at Indy 4 with Harrison Ford as an example. It made its budget back but not tons more. My thought is that it would take a great Star Wars story around which they could be positioned, maybe not fully lead themselves, to make it happen successfully. If I could get Luke, Leia and Han in a great Star Wars story, I'd take it. But I don't need to see them in Star Wars again for a box office flop just to see it.

Well, SR 'ol pal, I must be getting old. How's about this: you don't open a thread in a combative stance and I won't say its combative , eh?

So, I 'aint got me the attention span to watch the whole of an 18 minute YouTube conjecture video no more but the 2 I could keep focused on it suggested the rumour is they were going to be a cameo in a Mandelorion movie, is that right? I heard the intro saying it was going to be a scene (as in a single scene?) with the original characters in?

Have I got the right impression here or was the rumour suggesting they were going to feature a little more heavily than that?

The reviewers don’t know how involved these characters would be. For now it seems on hold because Harrison Ford is not cooperating. The conjecture is whether he’s been put off by the flop of the last Indy film. He’s getting old and his recent experience was he worked hard for what became a crappy film, and he doesn’t want to sign up for more of that.

If all Favreau were planning were cameos to carry the film, certainly the idea deserves to die. What Jon is after though is pleasing the fans, and this has NOT been the calculus these last fifteen or so years. So one hopes he can pull it off.

I will say this. Honoring George Lucas’ vision, and trying to give the fans what they obviously want—this stuff has been in short supply for a long time. I for one am thrilled Favreau gives a damn instead of coming to a project as another narcissist, ready to force feed the public their temper tantrum material.

Much of the vid was of reviewers who have given up on Star Wars. I’m not there yet. I still have great hopes for Ahsoka season 2.

Thanks for the full context, I seem to be loosing patience in my old age so the rundown is appreciated.

I agree with you entirely any film especially in the SW cannon won't live or die off the back of a cameo of at most five minutes screen time, and thinking about it strictly like that makes it seem like they might be pissing their pants over peanuts...

...but I do get your point being able to throw a crust to the long-time followers/fans of the franchise would be a nice touch, it could still be done by other means such as just using the actors who are willing to sign off on it, sneaking a carbonite incrusted sleeper slab into the back of one of the scenes, or maybe just chucking in a couple of GNK series droids or other similar models cold-calling a homestead on a random cut-away could be enough to set some hearts a-flutter? :glorious:

Agreed but if I know Favreau, what he’s after is something that adds tastefully to the legacy that fans will really cherish. The story is about Mando and Grogu, and he won’t detract from that, but if the original crew somehow impacted them and saved them, or otherwise have a serious moment, that’s more than a cameo. That’s fan service.

Recall, Luke has already showed up in their story, accepted to train Grogu, and later Grogu decided to leave and rejoin Din Djarin. This is after that and Han and Leah are an item if not already married. So there’s room to tell their story a bit more. Just Harrison needs to sign off on it. I don’t think he will unless Jon writes something truly epic. I think we should expect Chewie, R2D2 and C-3PO as well.

And that’s what it’s all about. Disney shouldn’t do these stories unless they can deliver epic writing. As the vid points out, there is enormous pressure on Favreau to step up the game. What he wants and needs, is more of this from his audience.
