Ship Interiors

I love CIGs art direction, but one thing that always ercks me a bit is the lack of ship interior color variation. Why oh why, in the name of Chris, are the walls often times the same color as the ceiling and floors? I mean…imagine living in a house with brown walls, ceiling, and floors. Wanna increase depression and disinterest in spending time at home with the family…if so, theres a hovel carved into a hillside I’d like to sell you.

I get that many of these ships are military ships that don’t need to have the ‘luxury’ of color…other than grey. But, then again, the Aegis Idris gets this mostly right with nice color variation. And I bet the reason they did this is because they realized that the ship seemed stale and disinteresting when playing a 40ish hour game absent of color in your virtual home. So, why doesn’t this translate to all ship interiors in SC?

IMHO, they just need to go through all ships with a walkable interior and change the color palette of the floors if the same as the other surfaces.

I mostly ride Origin 400/600 and haven't noticed this but will check it out. for a ship that doesn't have this issue check out the 300 series, that Moon Roof makes whatever your flying through be it space, sky or land your ceiling colour scheme :-)

I agree completely and add that despite over a decade of trying, CIG still can’t get decent function density into their interiors. The wasted space that would never happen aboard a space ship is just ridiculous. They still have not fixed the 600i and the Meteor is perhaps the worst offender ever with the entire center of the ship devoted to storing a single rifle and pistol.

That's not a bad point, at least they are working on the 600 and the Meteor is only a first pass there is still hope for that one.

I don't mind "wasted space" in Star Citizen because frankly it's a game. There needs to be a certain amount of open areas for players to move around and in the case of things like cargo, I've always expected balancing to take priority over redoing ship modeling.

That said, I really do hope they redo some of the older ships soon, like my 600I and the Reclaimer.. but who knows, it's a lot of resources to recommit to older content when they already struggle to push out new stuff.

i dunno about that. It’s a game for sure, but an expensive one to crowd fund. If you’re spendig heaps of dough on a digital shp, it would be nice to have its inners well thought out. That being said, this is highly subjective and what I consider perfect is someone else‘s horror show.

I‘m crossing my toes twice over in the hopes that the catwalk over the hanger of the Perseus is removed. I doubt it will be, but I dread the thought of this immense waste of space when CIG could add other rooms such as a brig and tier 1 med room on that 2nd level.

The 600i, is absolutely a fan favorite that’s loosely scheduled for a much needed 2nd pass. Can’t wait for that to roll out1. It’s a beaut of a ship!

When the 600i came out I hated it. Didn't realise it at the time but it was because it wasn't the 400i. Once the 400 was out and I had one I tried the 600 and realised what a good ship it is. Excited for the interior rework, I like the Exp version as it is but there is so much more they can do with it :-)

Yes indeed. I think that Origin, Crusader, and Misc have some of the best interiors in a lot of ways. Misc is my favorite for sure…I just can’t get past the letterbox cockpit window. I wanna soak in the views as much as possible while I’m traversing the verse.

Do you think CiG will ever allow select interior trim colors to be craftable? Would be cool to be able to customize colors a tiny bit on the interior of the ship.

They already did that with the 300 series a few years back, and you can still utilize the tool for that particular series of ships (I think - will validate in a minute).

So yeah, I can imagine they will.
