I have no idea what ships I will own when the game goes live in 2045 and you guys are already naming them?? Ptsh!
There is one, indeed ; )Named my MSR "MILLENIUM FALCON", because millennium with double N has already been taken May change it later.
Asked support re the Carrack, as couldn't see a naming option.
You could add what we (hope) will be the test fleet prefix to it (TSS) and then spell it properly after that.Named my MSR "MILLENIUM FALCON", because millennium with double N has already been taken May change it later.

I think CIG has already actually state that the "rename option" will be limited in the future, they just need to figure how, and that is a mess since it need to work for both real money purchased ships (visible in "myhangar) and in-game purchased ship (NOT listed in my hangar)....It appears that the rename is only temporary, and in future you could only name your ship once (though, my guess is that you could purchase a rename token).
I'll second the idea of using "TSS" as a prefix, this should also save me some headhacke for duplicated names.... hopefully.FAQ/ Guide here: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019839074-Ship-Naming-Guide
Anyone gonna be going for a specific convention? I'm planning on ripping off the UNSC from Halo - essentially, using Song/ Poem names.
Will update with what I go for when i manage to get mine secured :P
Hmmm interesting conincidence.... one of my option for the MSR will be "Stingray"...I named my MSR TSS Inquisitive Manta Ray, because it's gonna snoop around for data and flappy off into the ocean of space...looking like a Manta Ray.
You'll end up with a lot of DAMN ship then...I was only planning on having the TEST prefix when I was Doing As Montoya Needs and being blank the rest of the time. If you can only have the name change a handful of times.... I'll just need to duplicate all my ships, one for TEST business and the other for everything else :-D
I will probably put it on my Polaris and Javelin, and then as a get out of jail card on my other ships if I come up with a duplicate.I was only planning on having the TEST prefix when I was Doing As Montoya Needs and being blank the rest of the time. Only if you are a VIP on the list with an Original Concept ship or you are a Golden Ticket holder by now.can I reserve the name 'phred?'
For which ship? If MSR, i can name my MSR with your choice and release it next week for you (if you are concierge).can I reserve the name 'phred?'
But is it too late to call it the Failenium Malcolm?By the way, MILLENIUM FALCON is free now.
BRILLIANT!!But is it too late to call it the Failenium Malcolm?
I'll avoid that name... last one doesn't end up well.I'm in the second wave, ugh!
IMHO I expect UEESS (United Empire of Earth Star Ship) prefix will be in the ban list and added by default.
United States Cargo Star Ship (USCSS) NostromoUSCSS Nostromo
The USCSS Nostromo, registration number 1809246(09), was a modified Lockmart CM-88B Bison M-Class starfreighter owned by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and captained by Arthur Dallas, registered out of Panama. The Nostromo operated as a tug, connecting to and pulling loads like a tractor truck...avp.fandom.com
Infernal Dominator.I suspect many novel names have not been snapped up yet, after the initial frenzy, there are many names available. Since not even all ship types are eligible for naming, you will still have ample opportunities to claim your favorites.
I need a name for my Aurora. It's seen so much.
