Twin S6 ballistics on the Polaris chin! Point defense and quad S4 to the dorsal turrets.
That'll do nicely, will be interesting to see if it arrives that way - and as always subject to balancing of it proves too OP anything could happen.

Good video, thanks! A lot of speculation, but worth a watch. It shares insights into potential upcoming ships including the following:

- RSI Zeus MR
- Crusader Intrepid
- Anvil Hornet MkII variants (including the Heartseeker MkII)
- MISC Fortune
- MIRAI Guardian
- MISC Starlancer
- Argo CSV
- Drones
- Titan Suits (ATLS iterations)
- RSI Polaris changes (up-gunning as Shadow Reaper cited)

Titan suits are way overdue now, and I hope the work on the ATLS moves it forward since im sure they have been in some basic whitebox for years. Will need to keep a few in my Valkyrie for shenanigans.

S6 guns have been the magic number for years. If you’ll recall, the original Polaris design incorporated a single S6 flack cannon that launched canisters to kill torps and fighters at very close (500m)distance. I think they said the range of this weapon is 2,700m, which is a little disappointing given S5s reach 3,300, and S7s range 3,000. I don’t get why there’s no strict progression. Twin cannons on the chin is definitely saying they want more damage there than the Ares, but less than the Perseus. Definitely enough to bully smaller ships, save perhaps the Perseus.

Not that I know of. Certain fan site like erkul and StarJump get regular access to some level of code info. I’m not sure if it is special access or if CIG publishes it. In any event, it includes some in-house discussion at CIG, so CIG is intentionally leaking info, through outlets that specialize in making details public. Hence why StarJump is okay releasing names and details of so many unreported ships.

It works to CIG’s advantage to have this back channel communication because it fans the flames of hype without making them accountable to answer questions. Even though we’d like to know about the Intrepid, Fortune, Guardian and StarLancer, there’s literally no one to ask.

The Guardian is sounding better and better. I didn’t think I would like it but it’s growing on me. It’s svelt, has a bed, good dps with excellent range, and the S2 cooler on a 2S1 reactor suggests much better than average cooling. Half the shield of the Vanguard, but significantly faster and a much smaller target. 24X16 deck footprint says just maybe 2 will fit the XS pad as that is precisely the right dimensions. Quad S3 missile racks is novel, and good for longer range ambushes. No mention of the sensor suite size, but could be S2.

I’m always looking for a better ship for cave running and this could be it. I’ll use the range on the stock twin M7As. Almost no spread. Gear locker. The elevator suggests some cargo room. Easy shape to park in the trees for concealment and it looks thuggish. Can we get it in basic black with yellow trim? Hmm. . .

Pretty sure my eclipse will die for one of these. I want it bad. Been dying to have a long-range fighter that isn't fat. RIP svelte vanguard and carrack concepts, my beloveds

It does have some surprising options. This may be another good platform for a Sukoran shield. An Eclipse reactor has enough power for just 2 M7A, engines and a low power military shield. The Sukoran takes much less power than other shields, produces less EM, and importantly, blocks ballistics. So if you are on the ground pilfering Jumptown drugs from others and get in a firefight, those shields will protect you from the P4 everyone seems to carry there. That would be a huge surprise, and could save your life. Players fighting over Jumptown drugs often hide behind their ships’ shields and carry ballistics so they can fire through them.

You can’t buy Sukorans without buying a Defender or Prowler, but that seems a small price to pay for an unusual combination and serious tactical advantage on the ground.

The guardian does sound interesting, as do a number of the other ships.

That said, I highly suspect that at least one, if not all Hornet variants (except the heartseeker) will be released as a MK II version at CitizenCon, along with one other bigger money ship. I suspect it will be that mid-sized salvage ship they talked about, or some completely unknown capital concept. Of course, they could also,be counting on a significant number of Polaris sales and not want to flood the market with too many ships

With respect, I hope that you're wrong. In my opinion, saving the MKII variants for the next ILW would make more sense. Just like releasing the Guardian with it's Xi'an infused tech would be best released during the next Alien Week. Take all the ship love & spread it out so that people can afford them across the year.

My reasoning is complete speculation. It is based on the fact that CIG has a big Mk II hornet at CitizenCon.

It makes a lot of sense for them to market the MK II variants at the time when the Mk II is on everyone's mind and in front of everyone's face.

It's entirely possible you are right and I claim no special knowledge, just a sinking feeling in my gut.

Another possible role for the Guardian if indeed they build it stealthy—suppose you want to take over a handful of enemy armored landing pads or stations and are looking for the lowest player requirements because there are X of them, and you want to take them simultaneously. So an instance where despite TEST’s overwhelming manpower, you are stretching the manpower to turn it into a casual operation.

Let’s also suppose when NPCs enter the game we can use them to eyeball ground based targets and link them into the friend and foe dynamic. So you can use NPC marines to target ground assets like turrets, vehicles, gates, etc. a small base ought to have a dozen such targets. This is all reasonable assumption about how the F&F dynamic ought to work. NPC marines really need to be able to paint targets or what good are they?

So a Guardian with a single PC marine and 3 NPC marines aboard sets down just outside base sensor range. The marines ingress and each choose one target. The Guardian backs off up to 25 km, and on the word it and a couple more like it destroy 12 targets, and then the marines rush in.

12 targets down, base secured with just 6 players.

That’s impressive efficiency. A Vanguard might do this but they are nothing like stealthy, so the marines will have to hike a lot further.
