First no and it depend

The difference between those Connie’s are their role... Taurus = transport
Aquila = exploration

do the aquilla now as the aquilla is going to increase in price once 3.0 is released. it is defiantely worth it if you plan to explore. it comes with the ursa rover and a snub craft so technically you are getting 3 vehicles. Quick question though. Do the 2 ships you have right now have LTI or not?

Ghost to Super Hornet when possible. Taurus to Aquila only if you want to ditch carrying more cargo for all the exploration stuff the Aquila has to offer. You get an Ursa rover with that one as well if im not mistaken. I say super hornet even though the sabre is my favorite, simply because its built like a tank and more forgiving.

Definitely ditch the ghost and go Super Hornet. Upgrade the Connie to a Carrack :-)

Well, I guess it really comes down to the money. Doesn't it always? There are other options as well that you may not have considered.

You could upgrade the Hornet Ghost to the Hornet Tracker for $15. It's an exploration ship. Then you have a somewhat capable fighter (at least as capable as your ghost) and you get your explorer. Then, just keep the taurus as is since it's one of the best value ships in the game.

You could also burn your Ghost which should give you $125 in credit. Then you can buy a Taurus to Aquilla upgrade for.... $125. The only downside is that you loose your fighter for single player stuff. You'll get a P-52, but it's not the same.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about a fighter right now. The two best that you can buy right now are probably the Gladius and Hawk, but the Gladius is the only one you can fly right now. All the other good fighters aren't for sale at the moment and likely won't be again till the next anniversary sale. You could buy a Hawk, but that won't help you since the loaner for that is the Cutlass Black.

So what I would do, is burn the Ghost and upgrade your Taurus to an Aquilla for free. Then I would save up and pick up the next cheap concept for the LTI and upgrade that to a Gladius. That's probably the best flyable fighter that you'll be able to get your hands on for a while. There's supposed to be a concept sale coming with the holiday live stream too, so that could change things a bit.

If you want to fight like a demon unleashed... and live to tell about it almost every time, Ghost to Super Hornet upgrade for sure imo. If passive exploration and a rover and snub appeals more, and having AI or player crew with you, then Connie for sure

One ship is get up and go, and survives like a boss under the worst of circumstances and could make you all kinds of $ on escort-type or security/protection missions. The other, not so much, but has the potential to earn you a buttload of $ by way of exploration or liited cargo, discovery and the selling of information that you have attained from your exploration

Other thing to consider is time. Hornet... get in, jump, fight, win. Go home, drink beer.
Crewing up and taking off in a Connie can take longer than you want at times versus the get in and go of a Hornet. If you work ten hours a day, wife, kids... Hornet or any non-crew ship you can hop in and do what you want is best

If it helps any, here is how I am thinking of things...

One of my ships is pure indulgence, the other, will make me money.
I was sworn to go Cut. Black but I went with my impulse and heart. My Cutlass Black LTI is now an LTI 'Tali base. Why? Modules. The versatility outweighs any cons I see. Love that Cutlass, but it's not going to do what I ultimately want the freedom to do. But a 'Tali will...
Another ship will be for pure cargo. Getting a freelancer Max I think. This will fund all my early $ needs in early game at release. A third ship will be Bounty Hunter Hawk. The buyback/layaway lets you indulge a little

Maybe get one ship just for you and one for "work" in game? We probably have at the very minimum another year, so saving up for the two ships that you want is not unrealistic with the current layway we have. You probably have enough time to stow away enough $ to have a Connie, a Super Hornet and keep your Prospector too, and you'd also have a rover and snub. Pretty sweet fleet imo!

You can have your cake and eat it too! This is the silver lining of the game taking so long <3

I agree with earlier post about melting the Hornet to get the Aquila now. Save up money and next sale get a Sabre (if you want a Stealth fighter) or a Super Hornet (if you want to stay in that line). Who knows by the time you have the money to get your fighter they may release another you like better.

Other option would be to melt the Hornet, buy back the LTI token then CCU to a Cutlass Black. This way when price goes up on it you can save on whichever fighter you want to CCU to. You should have some left over from downgrading from Hornet to upgrade your Connie.

My advice would be to get ships you can use and enjoy right now in 3.0. Get the reworked Gladius to fight with or get the Aquila so you can drive your Ursa around the planets.
By the time the game goes live, my guess is there'll be 2-3 more anniversary sales and you'll be able to get your final fleet.

sound advice, there's plenty of time to rent all the things and try 'em out

one of the Hornet variants had 25% larger fuel tanks, which might be a worthwhile tradeoff for the slightly heavier armor of the Super Hornet - I can't find which one in the current ship matrix

remember, all the fittings not baked into the hull will be upgradable
