Haven't played too much of it yet, maybe about an hour due to time, but I was like "damn, they did a good job with presentation on this one". Mech commander 1 and 2 were my favorite games at the time of their release when I was a kid. Mech warrior 2 through 4 were also my favorites. Never read any of the books or paid much attention to the lore, but holy shit this presents it so well it's presenting an old game I thought I wouldn't be interested in too much a great breath of fresh air.

OK, so I made it to the third storyline mission. Just got a 'dragon' assault-class mech (60+ tons). The trick is to save often and not die, your mechwarriors need to skill up. I thank goodness I played battletech and in the past as some may feel confused with the heat/weapons type system or their capabilities.
They sell weapons with bonuses represented by a + or multiples of + giving it added bonuses. Check each planet before you leave. I'm finding your personal budget is tight, so don't over-spend your c-bills. I don't know whether going bankrupt is game over, but I don't want to try.
Always fix your mechs and have the engineer (once you get her) work on upgrades or repairs as the travel time can be long and every month you must pay your mechwarriors and operating costs. I wouldn't bother giving them anything but default pay, it eats into your budget.
LRM's do less damage than SRM's, so keep that in mind. Energy based weapons cause a lot of heat which you counter with heat sinks. Ballistic weapons make you unstable and are more likely to topple over. Try to find a mix that fits.
I find that jump jets, while snazzy, aren't required and the death-from-above attack damages your legs, although I found an upgrade that lessens this. I also found a command unit that increases your special ability usage, it weighs nothing so pick it up if you see it.
You may have to rewind to get past a future mission, so as said, save often.
HAVE A NICE DAY!

I also like to Precision Shot the legs of enemies when I can. They are easy pickings while they are on the ground, and when their legs are dead, they have serious mobility penalties.

Kickstarted this one.
I have to say I'm getting tired of all the excessive pauses to game play. a couple of seconds for it to bring up a banner telling me it's my turn, a couple of seconds between when I hit fire and there's actually any animation for things firing, double this if you multi-target. This is even after I've turned off all the cinematic camera stuff. I'm afraid it's an awesome game that's getting tabled for me due to being a death by a thousand paper cuts.

... third storyline mission ...
'dragon' assault-class mech ...
We must be counting differently lol
I finished the third story mission earlier, and i still haven't even seen more than a few 60+ ton mechs, let alone own one.

As far as budget goes, i actually pay them one less than the default, since as far as i can tell, morale isn't super important and the other effects are negligible. Then again, i might be screwing myself over for late game. We'll have to see :)

PPC (The Official Version)

4 Shots Everclear

1 shot of:

Peppermint Schnapps(Steiner)

Plum Wine(Liao)
Bourbon(Davion)-tequila if in Capellan March

Inferno SRM-2

1 Shot Sambuca
1 Shot Amaretto
2 Shots Goldschlager
2 Coffee Beans

Combine ingredients in a cordial glass (a wineglass will work if you don't have one of these). Light 'er up and let 'er burn for six turns (1 minute) before extinguishing. Enjoy. You can also double or triple the amount if you want an Inferno-4 or Inferno-6. In that case, the burn time increases as follows:

Inferno-4: 9 turns (minute and a half)

Inferno-6: 12 turns (two minutes)

If you go for the 4 or 6, I suggest a pilsner glass (tall glass that looks like an inverted cone). In any case, let the drink sit for a few moments before drinking unless you want scalded tongue.

Game good, but the pacing is excruciating! Move mech. Watch mech move. Watch mech settle. Next mech. Watch mech move. Order attack. Attack. Watch enemy mech fall over or blow up and stuff. Watch mech for extra second or two because no reason. Enemy turn. Watch stupid tank off sensor creep close. Watch for extra second or two for no reason. Rinse and repeat. Forget to save. Do everything all over again, now more frustrated.

Takes me back to the 80's. Plus the battletech lore is different than mechwarrior. It would have been nice to have simulation with an rpg element, like with mechwarrior 1, but I'm happy. Some levels are tough and you have to manage time and $ and medical.
I just finished the priority mission where I capture the evil duchess or whatever, I hope they give me some time to eartn some c-bills! Centurion mech scored from the duchess mission...yay. My main character got beat up however, 51 days in the upgraded medbay.
