I've seen a bunch of posts on TwittX seems this is a prequel series set before Episode One, but in Phantom Menace someone says the Sith were extinct for like a millennium or something or nothing so there is some salty abound that it's moving outside of cannon... but then that's the point of origin stories, to expand and explain where the antagonists came from in the first place....?

Star Wars has always played fast and loose with canon...under Disney doubly so. As always I reserve judgment about any finished project until it's actually released. I actually liked Ahsoka so I'll be pleased if this series follows in that vein.

While I've heard that said about the Sith having been extinct for a millennium, I always believed that simply meant that the members of the Sith were extremely talented in concealing their efforts while they worked steadily towards achieving their hidden goals. The fact that Palpatine & Vader existed in the original Star Wars movie was what proved that to me. So it wouldn't surprise me if this Acolyte show wasn't from the edge of recorded history almost 1k years before The Phantom Menace, during events that had been lost or forgotten by history, if not covered up by the Jedi Counsel hundreds of years earlier. As long as this will be entertaining, not destroy what we already know from the original trilogy & not be full of modern ideological BS propaganda, I'll most likely enjoy it.

Honestly, if Star Wars made a show based on either the creation of the Sith, which predates the formation of the Jedi, or if they made a series of the efforts of the Sith during the time of "their extinction" showing what they were up to & their efforts to remain concealed from the Jedi, I'd find that very entertaining.

On that not I'll love a Knights of the Old Republic era live action Series/Movie. There's a lot that Disney can work with and well....they can ignore a lot of that pesky canon. What I mean is I'll like to see a series that sets place thousands of years before A New Hope, it doesn't necessarily have to follow the material from the videogame. In fact I'll rather they don't, you'll never be able to satisfy the legions of sweaty neckbeard fans.

That would be awesome as well. Hell, they could do something similar to what the Matrix game did with the 2 sequels in the trilogy, having the events of the game periodically cross paths with those of the movie, but in this case, switch that so that the show would periodically cross paths or make note of what would be going on during the game at key or major events without actually interfering with them.

I'm one of those guys who actually prefer it when live action projects are 'inspired' by existing material but don't pay too much attention to it. Even having a series run parallel to the events of KOTOR is a bit too much to me. Folks get really riled up by video game adaptations because they grew too attached to their player character. Any depiction of the 'Player character' ala Revan won't work...period.

Hey look...it's a real Star Wars trailer posted in this community for once. Not too shabby looking at that.

Nice to see Carrie Ann Moss again!

It is indeed nice to see her back.

This kinda feels like I'm watching the trailer for an Asian brawler movie. I do like those, the stunts were insane back in the day! Someone did a great job cutting the trailer!

I also got the feeling someone from the production has a relative who owns a wire company hahaha. Poor sods who had to clean it all up in post, god I hated when I was doing that...

Ya know we got "automated" tools for that but they never ever effing work a 100% and you end up having to paint em out by hand. I once worked on a post-ww1 horror-thriller where at least 40mins worth of shots out of the 2 hour runtime had wirework in them, and I was doing it all alone. Worst thing was this wasn't a high-end movie, no one gave a shit to prep the scenes in any way for the wires to be removed. They were shaking the camera around by hand, doing stroboscope and all kinds of lighting with cheap unpainted pure metal wires around casting glare and shadows onto faces. It was a real horror show, for me at least lol

I do mostly agree, I would rather see something that is far removed from any game or characters I know about. Set it in the distant past, with proto sabers and Jedi wearing knight armor and capes and shit... Make it a pseudo high-medieval setting, and contrast it with the Sith doing deep political intrigue and assassinations and working the slums to recruit goons and whatnot, being properly evil while being stealthy and subtle to avoid detection so on. That could be cool.
Kinda like Andor (just without Andor, he was cringe and an unnecessary distraction) or the first season of Mando before the crossovers ruined it... Imagine if Mando did actually drop off baby yoda by ep 4, we being non the wiser to what happened to it after, and went on his way to rid the galaxy of bounties. He could have still done some of the sidequests with Gina's merc and met his old stormtrooper buddy and so on. There were arcs there that would have been cool to explore more without having to rely and mess up the original characters and timeline...

From the voiceover, knowing who the creator/main writer is, and hearing some "rumors" from friends in the industry.... I think I have a pretty good idea where this will be going. It will involve "subverting expectations" and a lot of stunning bravery. I'm fairly certain @Talonsbane is not going to be too happy with this one either. But I hope I'm wrong, with the recent troubles at the mouse tehre is a chance still. The cutting room floor has saved many a disaster before!

With Disney's latest anti-US Military and anti-Gold Star (Families where a family member made the ultimate sacrifice) family stunt, my opinion is Musk had it right.

Golf Foxtrot Yankee, Disney.
Yeah I have no idea what you're talking about but yeah....let's not take the thread in that direction.
