I think it's just for transporting tanks, but it's not enough cheaper than the Herc to be a great competitor. If you were building a fleet of tank carriers, I suppose the difference in price might make it appealing. I kinda like the looks but want to know more. Does this even say how many tanks it can carry?

Looks like two ground vehicles in the lower, enclosed hanger:
The Liberator easily accommodates three ships on its open-air landing pads, from light and medium fighters to mining and freight craft. The distinct double-deck configuration makes exceptional use of a relatively compact space, rendering take-offs and landings effortless. Fighters can therefore launch and help repel any attackers, should the Liberator come under assault during its journey. The interior bay is further capable of housing two ground vehicles, such as tanks and mining vehicles.
Would anyone trade a Crusader M2 for the Anvil Liberator?

I think they're marketing it as a multipurpose vehicle transport. Whereas the Hercules series can't really carry ships, these guys can. 2 top pads and 3 internal ones? That's potentially 5 medium fighters which is no slouch.

Gonna be tradeoffs of course. It'll probably be nowhere as beefy nor well armed as the Hercules.

Ooooo. . .yes, I think you're right. It's 68M wide and the rear ramp appears is about 30M. With the wings down, a pair of Eclipse might fit in sideways. Further, the pads outside are longer than wide, so it is possible a pair of Eclipse could fit latterally across each top pad.

A big ship like this to carry three bombers is interesting. A ship like this that can carry 6-8 stealth bombers would be compelling. That's the kind of small team that would be a huge game changer in any sizable battle. 6 Eclipse could kill a very large cap ship, Vanduul or UEE.

An interesting combo that looks will fit is 6 Eclipse on the deck and 2 Vulcan's inside. Vulcan's can get closer to a battlefield and rearm/refuel the Eclipse after they've shot their load.

I confess I'm not excited about carrying vehicles and ships together. Don't see much purpose for that, and the defenses on this are pretty pathetic. Carrying a full wing of stealth bombers though, that's interesting.

What we know is that it has been stated to be the "jumping on point" for ship transportation as a career . It is not intended to be armored or take part in battles as a ground vehicle dropship. They specifically said in the stream that they did not intend this to be capable as a dropship.
Still, it might be useful, it has quiet a large surface area.
but if you want to run tanks into a battle zone I'd stick to a herc at this price.

My take on this is that it's more aimed at the civilian market, the idea being that with ship persistence, players will Need a way to get their single seater ships to places, and that demand would create a market for other players to transport said ships.

Oh .... and brace yourself .... its one ugly ship!

Wondering if this might have been better as a Drake.
I'd say that it's complete utilitarian styling would better belong with ARGO.

The description indicates two ground vehicles in the lower hanger.

I wouldn't. While it might potentially be able to transport up to 5 small craft, most likely those would be 3 Saber size & 2 small sized internally. While that's no slouch, the majority of the pads are exposed to attack.

I'd heard that there was a new undisclosed small cap ship comparable to the Polaris from Anvil, I believe it's called the Long Bow. Clearly this is not that rumored ship. I'm sure that it'll do great for its role though.

l'd rather have seen a Longbow brought forward as a combo carrier / destroyer as an option to the Idris, rather than having this Liberator.

Not sure I will get past the Liberator's looks: Its bridge exterior lacks detail, the top deck feels tight, and I'm not a fan of the weapons anti-symmetry.

I might respect it's styling more if it had refueling capability. This ship sort of feels it should do that.

If wasn't clear from the larger carriers before, though, this ship's function does seems to signal that small-ship-ferrying may be as much a role in game as cargo hauling is.

They stated that it will be able to handle some ship refueling functionality due to its large additional fuel tank.

Likewise, the Khartu-Al is very long and skinny when sitting. Probably two of them will also fit on each of the exterior pads. I think people tend to discount the uses of the Khartu-Al. They're very stealthy and with Revenants mounted they can perform great interceptor service. Again, paired with Vulcans, six of them could be a game changer. They're faster and more maneuverable than Blades, Glaives, Arrows or Gladius, and they bring huge stealth to the game. This looks like could field 6 of them and 2 Vulcans for support. Great Escorts for Eclipse. You might even mix and match--3 Eclipse, 3 Khartu-Al and 2 Vulcans on each Liberator.

I'm liking this ship.
