So...by doin' this rework on the Cutlass, they've basically rendered the Warden useless. If it wasn't for that Sentinel BUK I got for it, I'd melt with no second thought.

That being said, my Cutlasses seem to be some of my best investments up to now. I liked the Black before, but now I'm really diggin' it, especially with that brand new wide arse and the added muscles.

I dunno, I still think the Warden is one of the most versatile fighters out there, especially because if the BUKs.

Also, wouldnt be surprised if the Vanguards MVSA lasers gets an upgrade after all the recent buffs to combat oriented ship loudouts. Like maybe making each MVSA laser a S3 equivalent as far as dmg goes
M5As. That would be glorious.
@Blind Owl will like this post....
Yeah I will.
I almost classify the Cutlass Blue now as a heavy fighter. I mean assuming same loudout of 6x S3 guns plus armor that may very well surpass the SH.... Yeah, definitely a potential heavy fighter in my eyes.
I have blue. I really hope you're right. Fuck I love this ship. I'm tempted to get a black too. Haha.

Indeed the flexibility offered by the BUKs makes it a very interesting ship, but each variant by itself is limited in usefulness. While the Harbinger and Hoplite have dedicated functionality, the Sentinel and Warden are just fatter fighters. Ok, the Sentinel makes you look smart and offers a different approach in combat, but the Warden...just makes you look good.

The Cutlass on the other hand is now sort of a jack of all (small) trades: it can carry cargo, it can carry people, you can fit a dragonfly inside, you can use it as a toe truck of sorts, it's got a lot of exits so it can be used as a drop ship, boarding ship or even a simple taxi. You can find a use for it within any type of activity. It's definitely my starter ship.

I've owned several Cutlass Blacks, and I've got to say, I'm quite excited to see to beefed up Cutlass Black. The added weapons and armor are gonna (hopefully) give the ship a little more character. I've always loved the Drake styling, and the Cutlass is one of those ships that, in my opinion, everyone needs to fly one. Even if it's only once. The only reason I haven't held onto my Black is, for all of its strengths, there are other ships that do things better for the same price. Hauling cargo, Freelancer has more space. Dogfighting, Hornet has more weapons. But with the rework, hopefully the Cutlass is able to find a more permanent home in my shed, because God knows I can't take the Caterpillar on small runs. Just hoping there will be room in the rear to stick the Dragonfly.

I have both, so I reckon I'm OK. The Cutty will certainly be my starting ship though. She's wonderful.

They've made sure that there is.

All of the tasks that the Warden and Cutlass can both do, the Warden will do better. It is faster, more maneuverable, as an airframe, better shields and armor, and I don't think the Cutlass carries missiles, but I could be wrong. The one thing the Warden cannot do is carry cargo, so they have very different applications.

The thing that pretends to put them in the same category is the new Cutlass has beds, so looks like will offer a respawn point in combat. That is totally new.

Just for the sake of the discussion:

Agreed. However, that is only limited to combat activities, because (sorry for quoting myself):

The Cutlass on the other hand is now sort of a jack of all (small) trades: it can carry cargo, it can carry people, you can fit a dragonfly inside, you can use it as a toe truck of sorts, it's got a lot of exits so it can be used as a drop ship, boarding ship or even a simple taxi.
Not of importance, but the Cutlass also has 2 beds now. Problem is one of them is placed near the open space toilet.

Now, I'm hoping they'll do a rework on the Vanguard too, improving both the weaponry and the functionality of at least the Warden. However, lookin' at the new Cutlass, I'd say it'll definitely be my mobile home for a few months at least. I also reckon I'll be finding it useful even further on down the road.

I think it is still going to be lumbersome. I think any real fighter would take it apart pretty quickly.

While the Harbinger and Hoplite have dedicated functionality, the Sentinel and Warden are just fatter fighters.
Fatter fighters with incredible shields, several times the range of the short range fighters, and the ability to log off without leaving your ship vulnerable. Remember without a bed, your ship has to be placed back in dock to be safe. Also rumor still is we can link to the beds for respawning in situ. For boarding actions this is key.

Now, I'm hoping they'll do a rework on the Vanguard too, improving both the weaponry and the functionality of at least the Warden.
I'd be happy if they would just let us put whatever weapons will fit, like every other ship in the game.
