This, exactly. Not happy to put it this way, but honestly, Morph's video is clickbait. Instancing is already in the game as individual hangars, and much of the same reasoning will apply to the upcoming content.
If they DON'T design certain content to prevent unwanted PvP, that content will only ever be seen by a handful of players. As Exhibit A, I present the entirety of Pyro. The lack of participation in game content there has been highlighted by the success of much more boring content, the Resource hauling in Stanton, even with it's many bugs.
There are also technical advantages with using instancing for limiting group participation, and the ability to move the instance to any available server with processing power.
Morph would know this, so I think he just decided to ride the drama for some views.
Hallo there dude, has been a while hows yourself?Instancing was even part of the original Kickstarter pledge, so it's nothing new. I have to agree with CIG that it allows them to craft story-based missions and dungeons of sorts. In fact, they, with their current technologies, make it much like a Battlefield match instance with two guilds battling it out. While I enjoy games like Rust, it does have an issue with offline raiding which is something that will need to be addressed when base building comes online in a more complete way than saying NPC security forces. Think about the attacking force scheduling a defense window with both forces being instanced off to battle it out.
The only concern would be if to much focus is placed on instances, as then it becomes more of a single coop game.
Not bad, just took a break from SC for a while. Then watched Citizencon and realized they are still not being honest with where the focus and resources are being allocated. They are still pretending like the verse is a focus when its very clearly SQ42 that is currently driving development and using the pledge money. Not bothered by the current focus, just the lack of transparency and a 3-year road map showing when focus will return and what features are the priorities. It's disheartening to see them showcase tech previews of things like engineering, base building, and working economic models, only for them to not mention again. Whole features that get turned off and are not enabled again, think in person mission givers. And I guess that is the biggest gap was the lack of any sort of future looking segment. Even if the timeline was not realistic acomplishable it still showed what was to be expected.Hallo there dude, has been a while hows yourself?
Aye I recall that, She's still sat in my hangar waiting for the day :-) All subject to change but if it eventually comes along... that'll be an interesting day indeed when a TEST armada rolls up on the edge of a system with ten Idris signatures and the assumption it's Sentinels but it ends up being ten actual TEST Idris.I get that feeling whenever I think about the electronic warfare they promised. Does anyone remember the claims that the Sentinel would be able to spoof the signatures of other ships? How long ago was the Vanguard release?
