HOW DARE YOU MAKE ERRONEOUS CLAIMS!

Everybody knows that in Season 1, episode 11, they to a planet and discover that a scientist from 1945 had actually gone through already!

Who's to say that others did not go in before him?
Actually, my statement was based on the original Stargate movie which preceded all of the TV series' & thus establishes the initial canon & lore of the rest.

"CATHERINE
This is as far as we have ever been able to get."

Stargate: Universe is hands down my favourite stargate series. Hell, if they made a kickstarter to reboot it I would throw so much money at them. A new season of that is exactly what we need.
Sadly, we're stuck with this. Now, I don't know if it's actually going to suck, but the trailer could have been less... marvel-y.
Just remember that the more you invest in a Stargate: Universe reboot kickstarter, the money will have to come from somewhere. Most likely from purchasing future SC Jpegs or from beer. I know, evil thought, but I don't want you to go thirsty my friend.

It's okay, i'd just take it from my miscellaneous video games fund. That's got way too much money invested in it already. Or I'd just sell my ps4, and use that money. It's not like I've played the damn thing for nearly a year now.
Also, i will never spend my beer money on anything but beer related stuff. However, i could make the case that another season of SG:U would be just the thing to sit down to, have a couple beers. It'd be worth it.

Very true. After all, with all of that advanced technology, imagine the sorts of alcohol they can provide to you wonderful TESTies. I think I'll be needing a larger dumpster to help clean up after those parties get started. lols

I agree, also, this trailer shows that the gate was activated decades before Dr Jackson was hired by the lady who's father discovered it. Which completely goes against Stargate canon.
No, season 1 episode 11 shows that the gate was activated in 1954 by scientists.

Edit: Wait, I just read @Montoya's reply. I looked up the episode then got watching it.

SG:open_mouth:rigins is supposedly out and the pilot is available to watch on the Stargate Command website for free, at least for those in the US.
Has anyone seen it yet? Is it any good?

Btw, in case you missed out on the original movie, it is now available in full (with ads) on the official Stargate Command YouTube channel, even for us lowly Euro-peons! Quality is piss poor 480p, but it's still a damn good movie!

(Yes, I noticed the title turned into an emoticon up top, but I'll just leave it there. Somehow I got the feeling that it will fit pretty well with your reactions about the series lol)

What do all these people have in common who produced the show?

I do have to say though, practical set / wardrobe production quality (except missing a little weathering imo), and for the most part even lighting was excellent. I wasn't a fan of some of the camera work. ... that's the nicest thing I think I can say about this new "series". I loathe the writing/direction.

I know I know! The answer is: "none of them have ever produced anything of any worth before"

So what i'm hearing is I should not watch this if I am a huge fan correct?
An attempt was made.

The problem is we all ended with Stargate Universe or Atlantis which had amazing writers and excellent production.

This feels like it was done on a shoestring budget, things like fake camera shake, lousy accents, cliche bumbling Englishman.

If you told me this was a 3rd year arts student film project, I would say it was amazing!

Unfortunately this is where most good content is going.

Why let people pay Netflix?

Put your content on your own service, charge $10/month, make more money.
Well the content better be really good to charge a subscriber fee. The new Star Trek is supposed to be good but I feel they would have made so much more opening to a wider audience on general cable. So many have not subscribed or are watching bootlegged versions cause they refuse to pay a $10 charge per month for CBS that offers really limited content.

I'll take either Starget Atlantis or Universe
SGU was my fav in the series. Was pretty disappointed when the cancelled the show. Robert Carlyl was the best character. Feel his talents got wasted in Once Upon a Time.

SGU was also one of my favorite things in the SG verse which is weird to say since I love SG1 so much and really liked atlantis, because SGU was the smallest and most rough of all their IP (till now maybe lol). I really hope they some day finally bring them back out of hibernation and we cross the void :D

The only issue with SGU I think is sustainability for character development / plot. If you look at shows like TNGs, there's established dynamic relationships that people can related to and that make sense... and can be naturally stable for many many many episodes.
SG1 had that dynamic.. that show could have gone on for YEARS.
SG atlantis... eh... almost there.. just was missing something.. not sure what.
SGU.. didn't have that... it was all about Dr. Nicholas Rush which continued along the theme from SG Atlantis with Dr. Rodney McKay.
SGU, although Dr. Rush character was fantastic for that short lived plot.. had no direction to go there after in terms of character development of the main characters... characters lost through attrition/dying out. Only a few left... show was a fucking mess. I LOVED it! but it's not sustainable as is... as a long running TV show. No stability. Shit even Game of Thrones with so many being killed, still has massive sustainability because of a deeper overarching purpose... SGU... "exploring for exploring sake" doesn't have that same impact as a story telling mechanic.. for those shows.. it's more about the character relationships. Not survival and betrayal like Games of Thrones.

.. just my 2 cents.
SGU could have been made a lot more sustainable.
