If there’s no CitCon I suggest TESTcon as a replacement.
Why isn't this a thing already? I'd go!

I don't think this is a extinction virus, and no sense running around with our hair on fire.
Obviously it's not an extinction level virus. Everyone knows you have to infect the entire world before you start showing symptoms, and especially before you start killing people! Not to mention you have to infect Greenland and New Zealand first as those are the hardest places to infect!

At least that's what my simulations have shown...

I've tried to start in Greenland. It takes ages to get out, New Zealand is not as bad as you can jump to Australia pretty easily. But for speed runs I typically like to start in India.
Nobody said that.

Nobody is doing that.

We are just tracking its progress and linking to sources. Having information does not equate to running around with your hair on fire.

I thought we already established this was released by the umbrella corporation and either we get superhuman powers or are doomed.

... and I think you're a natural speaker when it comes to data - you are actually kind of entertaining.

As bad as it is, people will die, but it is a virus and to our knowledge it is not man made.

Extremes aside, most of the deaths are in China.

There are probably some Chinese specific factors involved that are not as prevalent in the West such as access to medical, sanitary conditions for food and environment, and medical rationing (socialist/communist medical systems).

I am sure the list could go on.

Things will get worse before they get better concerning the virus.

Thanks for the public service.

Like I said before, Im just tracking the numbers and the trend is sloping upwards in the States, not flattening out or declining.
I agree. its going to look like the flu... it is going to look bad (with a bunch of dots on a map - that can be a little decieving) .

I suspect the trend is going to increase the next two months too... but In the end, you should treat China and Iran as outliers and recognize their political and technical restrictions... lets hope we can get it under control in North America, which I think we will.

I have older parents susceptible to this virus and I hope for the best.

I hear ya as I have a 4-month-old who is also susceptible to the virus and two other kids who are virus magnets. I have a feeling that we will start to see a tapering off shortly of this virus going into the spring and summer months and a resurgence of the virus this fall/winter as it becomes part of the yearly flu. But because for most of us its the first time our bodies are fighting it off its going to be slightly more deadly at first but then will become just another reason to call into work sick for a few days while we play more SC.

Im not trying to sound alarmist, Im just passing on what I hear, and I had a brief chat with Citizen404 yesterday.

He is in South Korea, which by all metrics is very first world and top of the line reaction forces to pandemic outbreaks. He says in his own words "its not good" when I asked how things are going there. The risk was that hospitals hit their limits with people having breathing problems. This is happening now unfortunately. Many companies have told employees to stay home and work from home of possible.

Im hopeful we do not get hit as hard, but like I said in my video, the cases are only starting to trickle in right now, its just starting.

Doc on TV said... he expects the mortality rate to be below one percent. Reason, is mild cases go unreported because they do not go to the doctor, so the data only reflects the serious cases where doctors have been involved.
For most healthy people, you will just get a low grade fever and a cough for a few days. Like you said, most people will not even bother going to a doctor for that.

I suspect that there are teams at various countries' versions of the US CDC working diligently to create an effective vaccine for this outbreak as well as a means to mass produce it as fast as they can to save as many lives as possible.

Yes, there are labs all over the world working as fast as possible to find a vaccine, but by the time its gets through FDA, 6-9 months may pass.

We are going to see the number of cases double every few days for this next week.

A vaccine IS NOT the same as a Antiviral. Everyone knows (informed people), if you get the flu vaccine there is NO guarantee that it will be the right vaccine for the actual flu virus every year. If I hear the word vaccine again, my head is going to EXPLODE! (vaccine != antiviral)

We want a antiviral to keep people alive NOW!
