In all honesty the "down time" for Fortnite was very short compared to being sucked into a black hole... Hell most MMOs got longer maintenance downtime when moving in a big update.

If they waited too much longer though, some people might have started to reconsider making purchases. Making people realize that it’s an online computer game that can shut down tomorrow and you lose all the money you made for purchases or backing is really bad for business....

If you'd bought a million V-bucks or a battle pass you'd be ficked off too, I suppose.

A friend of mine used to play one of those games on Facebook, sunk a couple of quid into it a month as their hobby. The game owners then turned the game off because it wasn't making them enough money. My friend didn't tell me how much it had been, all I got out of them was "enough" and was left with nothing.

I couldn't talk because SC, haha.
