I entered quantum from Baijini to Wala, was in quantum for about 5-6 seconds and my Guardian QI exploded but did not kill me.
Instead we dropped out of quantum and I was ejected from the burning ship and watched it tumbling away at rapid speed as I myself drifted in the middle of nowhere.
Ha! Fun times. I brought up the console and typed quit. I'll worry about it later.

At this point, we all know that SC has an issue with trolls & griefers, that the base of their existence is to ruin the experiences of as many others as possible. So of course they're going to target anything they can that can't fight back or defend itself, but the moment the same happens to them, they're instantly the victim of XYZ harassment. In all honesty, I hope that eventually, CIG will find ways to punish those players so harshly for their actions, that they will be forced to choose between changing their behavior, or quit playing Star Citizen forever.

The very safest option, supposedly if all works as it should, is to cancel out of quantum in between two points and log there.

Logging while on a planets surface or in it's sphere of influence has always been a coin toss whether it works or not, I usually fly away as far as I have patience to.

I thought, but never tested myself, that the ships supposed to despawn after a couple of minutes (maybe even up to 20?) you log out.
What I'm seeing is every single poi is littered with perfectly functional, locked and owned, but clearly abandoned ships. It's been like this for the past... 2 years at least if not more. I'm fairly certain 99% of the owners already logged or crashed out of the game and will never get that ship back anyways.

I'm glad/lucky that this never happened to me.
I've never had a stranger pop into my personal hangar, though I've heard of it happening.

It happened to me I was the strange in the hangar. The poor other player was very confused but luckily I am a nice guy not a griefer so I jumps up and down a few times to signify friendlyness then jumped all over his ship then jumped off and went back up the lift and carried on my own game.

It only happened when I had not called any ships at all on the terminals yet - once I called a ship to my own hangar that big has never come back.

Did a security mission of putting down a homeless encampment on hurston. While being an agent of death some player shows up blows up my ship hovers around looking for me gives up and flies away. Not really much a player on foot can do against a ship. Not even sure a rocket launcher would help.

But yeah it's annoying and off-balance that any rando can just show up and strand you with basically zero consequences. Security in supposedly secure systems needs to be addressed sooner than later.
CIG aiming for a better/more playable and stable game this year will be meaningless if the majority won't feel like being abused and won't play.

Looked it up. Would take two to three shots from a rail gun so best done with friends. Guess I might just need to spend some time in discord.

I used to play a game called Interstate '76, to get around one of the limitations of the game that it was vehicle based and not on foot, the characters had one piece of advice for each other: "Never get out of the car". Not bad advice it seems.

It'd be nice if we had a way of at least seeing the handle of the ass who interfered with the mission so we could post a bounty or other form of delayed gratification.

An EMP charge wouldn't be a bad defence in situations like this. Someone comes down and starts shooting your ship, pop the charge and they fall out of the sky. You can open/board their ship and start blasting away at them all close up and personal. It'd be no problem to you as your ship is already parked on the ground. The only down side of that would be you'd be giving griefers a perfect ambush gift so it'd have to light up on the scanners miles out... Perhaps a flame rocket which overheats the coolers instead, it'd slow their weapons down to a lavel hopefully they wouldn't be able to destroy your ship giving you time to take 'em down with the Scourge rail gun...

In the future I just don't plan on flying alone. After all what's the point if someone's not there to film you crashing.

Hmmm, playing the game the way they intend you to play it, eh?

You have to fly like the Blue Angels in perfect formation so you can crash together.
