So we all have ships. Some of us have several ships which we bought in moments of "SHINY!". What are your ships and why did you get them? Some personal reason perhaps or just because they look cool? Maybe you see yourself in some sort of role besides Crash TEST Aurora Pilot #1837(nothing shameful about this). Tell us your reasons and at the end put down your future purchase plans for other ships. I'll start.
-sidenote: My computer currently can't even run the Hangar of Star Citizen lol but I hope to fix that soonish because I've spent over 1.5K on the game lol.
Super Hornet - Started out as a normal Hornet and then grey marketed an upgrade to the Super version. Bought the original because it honestly looked cool. Its not my first purchase, that was the Constellation. Super Hornet upgrade came into play later seeing a good deal on Reddit and at the time I figured a friend who I'd been trying to get to join SC and I could co-pilot it on missions etc. Its still the plan but I like the extra firepower it can carry and I look forward to flying it.
315P - Originally bought because I fancy myself as an explorer. I've always liked exploring levels in games after I've killed everything and occasionally am surprised by what I find. Example: Halo 1, found several hidden caches of weapons and grenades I never knew existed on the first several runs through. So I like exploring. This ship will probably be melted for other future ships and I may pickup the Carrack of Dur to replace it. Friends are more fun that solo after all.
Constellation Phoenix - So bought the original Constellation way back when I first started pledging and thought it would be a good general purpose ship for whatever. That has changed. I'll admit I got the Phoenix upgrade because of the stats at the time being horribly wrong and thats ok because of customization possibilities. I'm going to keep the ship because I do see a good use for it in transporting wayward TEST pilots back to the meatgrinder of hostile space and I want them to travel in style*.
*airlock may open at any time to dump all freeloaders out into space/atmosphere.
Freelancer MIS - Bought this when the variant sale went live for the Lancer because it was limited edition and Macross Missile Spam is something I think will be enjoyable. I may melt it down later if something better comes up but missile spam appeals to me. Also green is cool.
Xi'An Scout Ship - Bought this when the concept sale went live for the simple reason of 'cool alien ship that maneuvers fast'. And then I bought another one that was used in our Xi'an scout giveaway to give something back to TEST for taking my poor self in. I invite Montoya to sit shotgun in it while we go crash one together. The fact that it retroactively got LTI is also a bonus and will be one ship I never reclaim.
Gladius - What can I say? I bought it because it was cheap and looked good. The fact it now has LTI attached to it doesn't hurt one bit. I plan to play this quite a bit and trick it out for fleet actions. Its just a good little ship imo.
Aurora LN - Because everyone else in this org has one. And it has the color Yellow.
Reclaimer - When this bad boy first went up I immediately got it. I did a fair bit of salvaging back in Eve Online and the random rewards that gave were fun. With a much more in depth Salvaging mechanic in SC I imagine I'll enjoy it even more. The Reclaimer also has LTI attached which makes me smile. The Reclaimer and the other Wave 3 ships coming out will mark a shift in my fleet toward more specialized roles away from combat ships though you could make the argument I only have 4 combat ships atm anyway. I say nuts yo you because you are right but I see myself more of an explorer/miner/salvager than a commander leading GLORIOUS TEST FLEET TO VICTORY.
Future Fleet(depending on cost)!
Orion - I liked Mining and industry in Eve Online. While I suspect it won't get as nuts and bolts here as it was in Eve I think the mining mechanics will be much more in depth and to me mining is a great way to unwind. Will definitely be getting one if its not uber expensive like an 890 JUMP.
Hull C - I do want a big cargo hauler to transport my crap around from one place to another and to loot fellow TEST members of their unwanted goods.
Carrack - Again on my list because of exploration and its dedicated systems.
Herald - Getting one because of lost cost and because Inforunning may be a real profession to spec in.
Crucible Repair Ship - Hand in hand with the Reclaimer this is my butter to the Reclaimer bread. Again specialized ship for something I find quite interesting. The Begal Carrier of TEST must be recovered somehow so we can fly it into the sun for epic tears. I also plan to extort a lot of money from Montoya when I see his damaged ship in space and need of a good kicking to get functional again.
Tl;dr - Sunder makes a wall of text and puts this in the wrong place so people have to have read the wall first.
