Hey boys and girls.

I've noticed they my x55 just doesn't want to work wow right in 2.4.

If anyone has a working profile, including the XML and pr0 files, I'd be very much appreciative.

I have traditionally been using Xaminder's build until now.
https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/151256/x55-hotas-profile-for-star-citizen-arena-commander-v1-1-0/p1

I haven't spent a lot of time troubleshooting as if yet, but I thought I may as well put the big in your ears.

Thanks all.

Edit: I've had another member ask me about x52 setup for 2.4. So I'm adding that to the post. Any info y'all have would be much appreciated.

Hmmmm, I configured my HOTAS in SC Advanced Controls Customization. I exported my control settings in 2.3, copied them out of the user folder and imported them again in 2.4. Everything works the same on my HOTAS. I didn't had time to figure out the keyboard changes, but until now I didn't need them except F1 mobiglass and F10 scoreboard.
Almost forgot about CRTL+F, I normally used it on keyboard, but I also had it somewhere on my HOTAS, works better :)

I'll try today. I won't be near as tired, so maybe I'll figure something that I didn't last night.

I could give you my setup, but thats for a Warthog/Crosswind and completely dogfight focused. The buttons and switches on the base of throttle are for ifcs, auto pilot (never used them ) and very usefull: exit seat and eject next to each other. The efect is the same :D

That's how I have my buttons setup as well. I'll try when I'm home. See what happens

Warthog has dual stage trigger, saves me one important button, leaves thumb for multiple important tasks. Very important with dogfight against multiple targets / waves is fast switching of targets, always choose the most convenient target in the pack, the last one, when turning 180 your speed will drop, don't turn in front of a hostile ;). If one target is down, the closest hostile will be picked, better turn and choose the first new target in reticle. Roll and zoom are on rudder pedals.

Right index: Firegroup 1 / 2
Right pinky: CM
Right thumb:
- primary targeting
- secondary look / zoom / missile
Left index: strafe
Left middle: boost / afterburner
Left foot: zoom

with this setup you can simultaneous pitch, yaw, roll, throttle, strafe, boost, target, zoom, fire and countermeasure

I have so little time for gaming as it is that I get put off by having to make profiles in this game. I did it once...loved it...then a new patch came out. And another one. And another.

I really just want the controls to match Elite Dangerous so I can go between the two with ease. But with all the hassle involved I don't play much these days.

If you setup your profile in game, instead off outside, your profile will stay working, unless they change the commands.
Let me explain: you have the command 'strafe up', keybinding is 'W'. If you make a profile outside SC, then you would bind a button to 'W'. If you make your profile inside SC, then you will bind your button to the command 'strafe up'. If they change the mapping 'W' for the command 'strafe up' to 'Q', then your external profile would be screwed up, but the command 'strafe up' still exists SC. In SC you mapped your button to the command, so regardless the key binding, the command stays mapped.
Unless they change the command or you change the hardware button assignment, it will stay working.

I hope I explained it understandable, English is not my native language.

This is great info. Thanks @marcsand2

I do need to reallocate the strafe buttons. I want them more accessable, as I tend to fly with them a lot.

The other thing I too figure out is the x55 program that runs outside the game, that has curves etc, bound into it

Curves are great to improve the response of your stick to the flight characteristics of your ship, but, if you fly more then one ship, you should make a curve for each ship..o_O, don't focus on the curves, instead focus on the handling and controls.
For example, you fly the aurora, it is somehow sluggish, needs allot of boost / afterburner to make a 180 and buildup speed fast, same is for bigger ships, so you would make your curve more aggressive, but in return you overshoot allot. The same curve would kill you in an agile ship.
Best approach would be to set your curve neutral and adapt to your ships flight characteristics, but that also means adapting your way of flight / fight. I'm also not so good at that, that is why I switch to other then preferred ships to get trained with it.
Zoom and boom are not my thing, but still I got me an 350R, meaning that I still must improve my aim and adjust my weapons to that kind of flight / fight. In the end I still take my Delta out for a fight to relax . The SH also has that capability if I switch of the gimbals and load it up with allot of repeaters, really fun with 2x S3 CF-227, 2x S2 CF-117 and 2x S1 M3A :D

X55 leaves you with no option to use firegroup 1 and firegroup 2 and simultaneously change target, also use missiles while firing isn't possible. I would suggest:
flightstick:
- use the top red button (cycle CM) for missiles
- use the pinky button (firegroup 3) for CM
- use the pinky switch (fire CM) for cycle CM
- firegroup 2 looks good
throttle:
- use the top or bottom knob (cycle camera / equalize shields, are that pov buttons????) for strafe up down left right
- boost / afterburner is ok
- space brakes.... o_O there will be a better use for that one
- zoom really improves your aim, practice to use that good

As soon as I can figure out how to get SC to detect my HOTAS again, I'll try your suggestions.
As of right now I'm about to throw the damn thing across the room, haha.

Thinking maybe I'll go play on my PS4. No days wasted there trying to get games to work. :P

I have 3 sticks, the flight stick, the throttle and the pedals, as long as windows can find them, SC also can find them. Maybe in the wrong order, but still it can find them.
Emergency protocol is. Unplug them all, first plug in flight stick, reboot, then plug in throttle, reboot, as last plug in the rudder reboot. A German guy tought me the golden rule: Rebut tut gut :D
either you translate that or just trust me on that one, Reboot does good ;)

Damn, I just tried to dogfight with the Freelancer, works well until my guns jammed and stayed firing, put on my hachimaki and continued. Next I tried to do the same with the Andromeda...... too hard for SC, CRASH

Reboot worked. I'm going to try to rebind everything to my preferences. Now, is it easier to modify the current XML I have in game? Or should I use the saitek program? The Saitek program binds HOTAS keys to keyboard strokes, whereas, if I'm not mistaken, if I use the game to modify it I can bind actions directly to my HOTAS. I think that's what you suggested earlier, right?

Yeah, I gotta walk away right now. This is probably the single most frustrating thing I've tried to do with this game. Wow.

There are keys the game doesn't register as being pressed. My frustration level at not being able to set a simple throttle control in this game has me on the brink of planting c4 charges on my rig and walking away, lol.

This SHOULD NOT be this complicated. I've spent my entire afternoon trying to bind keys that, once "bound" don't do what they're supposed to do. I should not have to put in hours of work in order to play a game, regardless of alpha or not.

This is ridiculous.

I was just watching a video on 2.4 and thinking I get a DONSA on Tuesday... so time to catch up on SC.. and to remap my X52.

I already feel your pain and know I will be in it myself... having remapped my keys over and over again in the past... now with all these new options.......

(Key CPT Kirk)... KAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHN!

I dont know if it's the best solution but maybe trying to unbind everything except the x,y,z axis in the HOTAS setup of the game. Then use Saitek software to map SC keyboard to the different desired HOTAS buttons. For the Throttle there is two option in SC config "throttle up/down (abs)" and "throttle up/down (rel) I do understand the abs= absolute and rel=relative but can't figure out which one would be the best to use.

I also have a Logithech G13 (i use for FPS/EVA mode) and noticed that when it's pluged-in the game goes locco and doesn't recognize my hotas (or has priority over hotas), only solution i found was to plug it after launching the game at least in 2.3.
I own a x-52 pro btw.

And nothing to do with HOTAS config but just saw it.... The Penguins won the stanley cup missa happy

Yes, it helps to start with unbind everything except x and y axis. next step would be to map groups one by one, test it and continue until you have mapped everything. Just go to AC free flight, with ESC you can jump to options and reconfigure if it doesn't work like you want it. Also don't use different functions under one button, for example: use a 4-way switch for targeting and press the 4-way switch for boost. It doesn't work good, you always would accidentally retarget while using boost. I also own a G13, it only interferes with your setup if you configure the thumb stick as a joystick, SC would also see it as a joystick. If you unplug and plug your devices, then SC will mixup the joysticks. SC doesn't remember which stick is what, it just maps the first stick windows sees to joy1, the second to joy2 and so on. Only good solution is: connect flight stick, reboot, connect throttle, reboot, connect rudder, reboot. Don't unplug them anymore,
