Hey there Testies!

At present we are looking into getting regular meetings started up again. These meetings would take place on discord (voice), once a week (ideally).
The purpose of the meetings are to:
  • Promote communication and interaction among the membership of TEST (particularly for new members),
  • Disseminate news, events, and update information for both Star Citizen and the organization,
  • Act as a central point from which section/division leaders (as well as TEST leadership at large) may conduct their own internal meetings and organize training among their members,
  • Generally hang out and have a few laughs.
I've already spoken with Montoya, and he thinks it's a pretty good idea! The only questions that remain are "when" and "for how long"?

My Two Cents:
I'm thinking that it would be best to have a meeting once a week on a predetermined day and time.
For example: "Every Sunday @ 6PM GMT".

HOWEVER...TEST is the largest organization in Star Citizen, and it's members are located all around the world. It's impossible to find a day/time that works for EVERYONE, and we know that... which is why we'd like your input on the subject.
I've included a poll to help us get a better idea of what would work the best, for the most people...
So please, let us know what you think. Every response is helpful.

True Hardroc77, so perhaps a Sunday-all-day event once every two weeks? Or even once a month?
I like the idea of it being semi/bi weekly. Once a month is more punishing to miss.

Maybe 12 HR window, 1-2 times a month, as all day is a bit ambiguous, and people may miss main events in said meet-ups.

That is unless you make the main events (if there are any) fall within a certain time brackets.
I like the thought of it being an all day event with major talking points having loosely assigned time blocks if there is enough discussion expected to warrant it. Although that potentially leads into needing either having someone summarize the meeting for people in other timezones, or having multiple people available to disperse information so we don't end up with a drunken version of the phone game.

Lets give it a TEST run this weekend. Just a general "hey hop on discord this weekend, its pretty important for the org that you attend during these hours XXXX-XXXX. we will be discussing the continuation of such meetings, their necessity, their future dates, times and content along with anything you feel you need to add, as your attendance is what makes this."

Its hard enough to get Montoya to even do a video a month and you expect him to hold a weekly meeting?
Who says it has to be Montoya? @Blind Owl and I will host the shit out of that meeting man you don't even know!

Sounds great.

As for my opinion on how often and how long the meetings should be:
1-2 a month - depending on participation
24h is manageable if meeting, or at least main parts of it, are going to be run by few stuff members from different time zones
- org leadership is choosing, for example, 6 members from themselves to represent the leadership as a whole
- each one of them is going to run a meeting for 4h, example: Montoya is running a meeting between 12pm - 4pm, SeungRyul 4pm - 8pm and so on
- during that 4h time frame they can go through all events, news, etc.

I used similar system few years ago in CS clan where we had members from all different time zones and it was impossible to make one meeting at this and this time. It worked great, all members were able to get online in the time frame which worked best for them and no news or event was missed by anyone.

If anything it will probably be like herding cats. My advice is stick to once a month. Not only could u come up with a predetermined time like the 2nd Sunday in a month(also not all months have a second and fourth Sunday or whatever day in them)., but you would then have more info to talk about such as the SC Monthly Report.

Another thing that might help drive a single monthly session is that SC isn't moving at such a fast pace as to warrant a bi-weekly meeting. So unless you want to start hosting events such as who can beat Shive at racing or best team for Vanduul/Pirate Swarm, you will quickly end up repeating yourself or running out of info to talk about without getting off topic. People tend to lose interest when there isn't much to talk about.

Just food for thought but I definitely like the idea of a gathering of my fellow Testies.

Agreed. A great idea. But, yes, the logistics of a world wide membership means that members such as @marcsand2 and @CosmicTrader will be at a different time of day than me or @Jenno180 . Perhaps two or even three time frames should be setup so if you miss one, you can still link up at another?
Just my $0.02.
I second this. A whole day event will take allot of topics to fill and you always will miss important info. Better to split it up in 2 or 3 time frames.
