Hey guys just want to put a reminder to becareful who you buy stuff from if you buy second hand. Scammers have been weezeling themselves all over the place ebay, reddit, etc.. you name it they are there. keep your accounts protected with 2 step authentication also with a strong password as more and more accounts are getting hacked. Here are some more recent scams on reddit.

Thanks for the heads up, brother. I prefer to use a known middle man. An extra layer of protection. You are correct about two step verification. I at first thought it was a royal pain in the ass after I started it. But after getting use to it and hearing about the accounts that got hacked, it became a no brainer.

My advice if you are buying SC ships from outside a org where you most likely know people.

If you want to buy a SC ship from someone you don't know and they won't tell you their real name address ans such and that you can verify that.

Then DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!! simplest way to avoid scams!

Be smart not outsmarted!

CHEERS! :beers::beers::beers:

Starcicitizen_trades wiki is full of good advices to stay safe: www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/wiki/staysafe

Which I can sum in a couple sentences:
Contrary to what the marketing department of some sites claim, there is no 100% safe market. At most, you can count on the professionality of your seller of choice to take responsibility on their sales.
Never accept trades of any kind. That includes account trades (Steam, EVE, etc.) and virtual items (CSGO skins, keys, etc.). Those trades are irreversible and a good way to be scammed.
Always work through Paypal invoices (never by Friends&Family) and rise a dispute at the slightest sign of suspicious activity.

Edit: grammar

This is why I only use Star Hangar now.
Star Hangar charges too much on rares and puts a profit on most packages above melt + pp fees.
No offense to him though, he's one of the biggest most active traders.

BUT PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS BELOW
IMO we need to stop treating ship pledge trading as a "BUSINESS"
imo it's selfish to try to make a profit on ship pledges as the profit only helps yourself not the buyer or CIG.
And if you use the profit to re-invest into CIG, that's great BUT you basically penalized the buyer for missing out on the original pledge themselves by charging that "premium".

This is the WHOLE thing that's wrong with the grey market.. besides the scammers.

Come closer to launch, I'm gonna say f you to all sellers selling for a profit and offer all my many hundreds of buybacks at cost + pp fees publicly to buyers with a satisfactory trading history. Instead of just trading with ORG mates. SC fans deserve to get the best value for their pledges... and if I was rich I would even eat the pp fees so it'd be a true win-win for buyer and CIG.

Honestly, CIG should have ALL pledges be LTI up until launch and all pledge types available... then this grey market would have never existed. Then come launch, older ships can only be earned in game without LTI. Previous ships from before launch become NOT gift-able with some exceptions. While newer ships can be bought (with LTI) so that CIG continues to have a revenue stream in addition to subscriptions. IMO this is how it should have been.

I don't even charge the PayPal fees anymore, ha.
