I can take as many days off as I want (as long as I take care of some stuff before I leave and make sure my colleagues don't die while I'm away).
U jelly?
Yes!

That looks beautiful Sam. I'm glad you got to go camping with your son. I plan on doing some myself when I start my vacation next week.

I think vacation time here's in north America is dependant on your career. I, for instance, only have 25 days of vacation. But the military supplements that us. So Christmas I usually get nearly a month, a week or two in the spring, and another 3-4 weeks in the summer. I can't complain. And I'm home with my family almost all the time now. Sitting at home for lunch as we speak.
"Only" depends on the point of view. My US-american ex-German emigrant friend, who tells me about 15 days with which he even has to cover illness times, would be very happy about 25 days. Ugh, 15 days...happy me, living in Germany. But Canada also seems to be a good choice, 25 days is quite okay. And your work-live-balance seems to be perfect, dear friend owl. I'm happy for you, and you really really have more than earned it after all the stressful months. Have a nice day, big hugs for you and your family from far over the sea :grinning:

Thanks my good friend. We're loving our lifestyle now as well. It's really nice being able to come home for breakfast and lunch during the work day, and to just be present with my family. Life is good.

Morning! This weekend I released the first episode of my German Star Citizen lore - and boosted across the 1k mark! What a success! Plus, 26 followers on Patreon who spend me almost 100 Euros per month. So, this all begins to turn from fun into responsibility. And I'm not sure, if this will remain fun. Thus I'm puzzled over this success.
But its Monday, I'm in the office and am somehow far away from being motivated or the like. This is me currently, sitting in the office:

@Blind Owl I've heard about those wildland fires over in Canada, again. How bad is it? Will you have to go over to the locations for helping to fight the fires?

Not this year Sam. Those fires are on the other side of the country from us. If I was still at my old unit, then yes, I'd be going to fight them.
And they are pretty bad. There are multiple fires, with many communities already affected. I believe 7000+ have been evacuated so far.

Ah, that is interesting: Battling the wildfires cause - wildfires? I will read your URLs lateron, thanks for posting them!

Well, Tuesday and...its raining. Raining, raining, raining. We could for sure send 50% of it over to Canada and we still would have enough water for nature. This is Berlin two weeks ago:
Hopefully, that everyone stays safe and the fire will be fight down soon.

Now: coffee.

Yeah, basically by successfully fighting fires for so many years we've allowed the undergrowth to grow so thick that it feeds the fires so they become large enough to actually burn down the trees.

What used to happen was the fire would burn through the much thinner undergrowth, and burn past the trees, leaving wide open grassy areas beneath the trees.

But our fire fighting efforts stopped even these smaller, safer, forest friendly fires, and that undergrowth started to thicken and thicken, to the point that now it acts as fuel. Enough fuel that the fire gets hot enough to ignite the surrounding forest.
