Glad I missed the live action GITS. I have and love the original two animated films, sounds like they missed the mark as bad as the 1995 Judge Dredd movie or the Tank Girl movie that killed the comic...

I'll be honest....

While the CGI was stunning, the animations were not super fluid in a couple places. That broke it for me.

While the voice acting was good, it wasn't great and at times felt a little non-genuine.

I'd give it a 7/10. Good, but not great.

However nothing was more rage-tastic than the Vanduul Driller reveal video. Such a lazy abomination to come out of CIG.

"why are you so angry..." Because I absolutely loved these franchises they ruined the opportunity to make a good live action adaptation.
When a fan with minimal show biz experience can say... I could have done better at the helm.. a LOT better... that's a problem! These assholes don't bother doing open town halls with fans to see what we want or WHY we liked the originals.. and I'm not talking doing open town halls with dummies.. I'm talking town halls with intelligent nerds/weebos that know the underpinnings of why we love those franchises. That's like... EA buying CIG and fucking up Star Citizen.... would we all be calm and happy?

I used to really like both of those movies when I was younger, then I picked up the comics and realized what they had done. Hopefully the new Dredd series won't be a complete bastardization.

The first three minutes of the '95 version and we see his face... yeah they missed the mark biiiig time.

The newer Dredd was very good, maybe not as Sci-Fi as I was hoping but they got the urban feel down and didn't piss all over the source material. Such a shame it came out at the same time as "Attack The Block" which had a fairly similar setting and got more headlines at the time.

EDIT - I still like the original Dredd and Tank Girl for what they are in themselves, I have copies and do watch them now and again, but I know they are their own thing and the comics and the second coming of Dredd in film form are something else altogether.
