The easiest way to make sure that can't happen is to not give anyone the ability to take large amounts of org-related stuff and protect ships/stations/planets/systems with more than 1 person to minimize the backstab-potential.
Remembering that this is first and foremost a game and that we are here to have fun.

Also keeping everyone in positions of power drunk to the point of not being able to pull something like this off even if they tried might help.

Thank GOD & CR for their being insurance on our ships in SC so that nobody can betray us that massively. IMO, people who are that bad of vermin should be exposed IRL, their accounts deleted, forced to repay all of those they harmed & banned from internet gaming for life. Another dollar; another day in EVE. This isn't the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last. It happened to BOB and it's happened numerous times before that. It happened to a lesser extent in our corp where our corp diplomat to the alliance betrayed us handing over all of our assets; switched to another corp and we were promptly set as red and ran out of nullsec.

It's just a game but I hope SC will have better protections against this sort of thing than EVE. It still burns when it happens and I feel for all those impacted by it as getting your internet spaceships in EVE isn't always easy and starting over sucks.

Yet another reason why it's good if top officers have a relationship beyond just the game as it's easy for some to betray people from behind a keyboard. They are scum in my book though and I can appreciate gigX's rage albeit misguided and rash; potentially alcohol fueled ;).
