I really think CIG has made a rod for its back with 3.0, firstly we know it is taking them a while to bug fix (half the year so far, well started in June and it doesn't even include that much), so what next? If they want 3.1 to be the same will it also spend ages in the waiting tank with bugs to fix? (I cannot see how they can go back to releasing buggy versions (Okay they will still be buggy) regularly again) otherwise what was the point of doing so for 3.0. The point of being bug free does not sit with the Alpha tag.

I cannot help feeling that the desire to release something finished is to ward of the refunds (here I have delivered sort of as promised) and yet the year between any sort of update at all will have made it far worse expectations on progress.

I expect the Delta Patcher to be the herald of faster progress, or at least the impression that progress is being made faster when we have a new patch every month rather than every year. Won't matter that it is smaller... ;)

I fully suspect that once 3.0 hits, the next series of patches will be coming far faster. They'll have the basis that they need to build on.

I've been thinking about how long it took for CIG to get to Avocado & now how long Avocado is taking to find & fix the various bugs. I think I might have figured out a possible solution to the problem. CIG is not TESTing each avocado salad properly in that they are most likely having only the best & brightest Citizens playing different scenarios to see if things are bugged. Instead, I would advise that they also give the most drunken & stupid players versions of avocado to just run around & screw around while CIG monitors all of the things the backups are encountering. Lets face facts, nobody gets stuck, finds glitches & messed up things nearly as effectively as the stupid or intoxicated players who are not looking for them. Then once a bug is found, that bug can be sent to the best to try to repeat to figure out the actual bug. Drunken goofballs FTW!!!! :beers:

We didn't have a delta patcher before. We didn't have rooms with actual volumes before. We didn't have shopping kiosks before. We didn't have ship components before. We didn't have a robust item use system before. We didn't have planetary landings before. We didn't have such a complex mobiglas before. I could go on, but alpha3.0 is (hopefully) the end iteration of several systems and now the devs can concentrate on adding more content and new systems like medical and player capture. Everything previous has been feeling around in the dark, trying to find where to put a solid footing. I think we have that now and we should only see minor changes and balances to the major systems, no more complete rewrites. Well, that's the plan anyway, but according to everything I see on ATV, CR is happy that the systems in place now will give the gameplay options needed to deliver the immersive and complex game he wants to create.

The delta patcher will enable more regular patching but the issue seems to be more related to what is produced. For all the pipelines supposedlyu being in place not even the ships from last years presentation for 3.0 3.1 3,2 etc have made it in this whole year and supposedly that's all streamlined. What I think is they have redone (But not finished) a lot of S42 and so have not moved onto other things as they planned.

Every year is supposedly the year when things speed up, it definitely is the total opposite in 2017 where people are still fingers crossed for just the one update! No doubt all the developers have all the other patches being worked on in tandem like the shit that was pulled at the end of last year! NOT!.
