I just bought the extra credits I needed to get both the Medical Bay + Landing Bay.
Now you've decided to keep it, name it. You'll never want to get rid of it again once you've named it.
I think I'll call it... "Curie". In honor of both Marie Curie (the scientist) and Curie (the medical robot from Fallout 4). That seems appropriate.

Well duh, what else are we going to fill the IV bags with? Other fluids? WRONG.
We're professionals. There will be no drinking in the Medbay during working hours. Working hours are 1PM - 1:05 PM.
While off-the-clock, though, we're going to partaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd keep it and either rent it out to earn credits or not worry too much as We have enough drunks to help run it.
Hell I'll seep the floors for ya, if needed.
Now, regarding my Polaris........

For the longest time, I imagined that I will be able to solo my Endeavor Hope, filled to the brim with NPCs, and patch people up all around the 'verse.
No where does it say you can not do that.
Actually, from the article;

"The minimum crew value is what we regard the minimum number of players (or hired NPC’s) to be able to operate the ship in a basic manner while still utilizing its key features, such as a salvage ship being still able to salvage and move/defend itself."

Remember NPCs can also be specialized and trained. Also they cost money to hire. That's where the big investment in crew part comes from.

I would be happy to serve on your Polaris!

NPCs should be able to do any job a player can do, so they make that 90% of the 'verse believable. Given enough UEC, I hope we'll be able to hire a competent NPC crew. We'll have to wait and see!

Yeah definitely keep her.
I normally go for larger ships now, so I can buy the smaller ships in game.

I'm actually in the same boat as you, a casual solo player with an Idris to crew.
So-much-Concern !

However, If I ever sell my favourite ship, I'd lose sleep thinking about her.
Like the broken heart of first love.
