Hey all, me again.

First off, best wishes to all for the new year!

Awaiting the start of all festivities here, I figured to post my question in the meantime.

I was wondering. I read a lot of posts about people actually being able to finish missions. Doing cargo runs and stuff. Trading commodities.

Since 3.0 my experience so far summed up:
* Spawned Cutlass missing pilot seat, needed to reclaim
* Spawned Sabre missing all weapons and unable to enter, needed to reclaim
* Exited ship to EVA and lost all control of character (this happened 7x already)
* Finished one protect mission where the AI ships where crashing into asteroids and in the end all enemies were dead but the mission did not complete
* Very often lost control of the ship (was only able to look around but not steer the ship anymore)
* The occasional crash
* Much much more

So far I haven't been able to finish one single mission so far. Anyone else experiencing this much trouble? I know it is alpha and it is not yet polished. But others seem to have much less issues, so I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Any tips?

Cheers all.

I've been having very similar issues as well.
Had the same problem with the Cutlass and the Sabre. And I can't spawn the Freelancer with a rear door and engines. That started for me in the PTU and it continues. The closest I've gotten to a mission completion is the bio hazard from Bountiful Harvest. Btw, that sounds like a great name for a grocery store. Picked up the package, put in the Cutty. And after lift off screen froze for a minute or so until full crash. Damn it!
My advice, IMHO, is keep on truckin'. It does seem to me that frequency of bugs that I experience has become less often. So maybe they're working on them in the background more than it seems.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear I'm not alone in this. :relieved:

I hope your referring to Bountiful Harvest. I think the name Bio Hazard would put your grocery store out of business pretty fast... :smile:

If your ships spawn without doors or weapons, etc., immediately go back to the terminal and make an insurance claim on the ship. Sometimes it seems like you can't make a claim on a ship you have spawned (?), so I just go back, spawn a new ship, and then make the claim on the first ship.

Today, after a week of having no problems, the first 5 ships I spawned all had problems. I just filed claims on all 5 until I got a ship that was ok.

If you file a bunch of claims and don't want to wait an extended period of time, it seems that logging off and then logging on *a different region* server will make your claimed ships immediately available.

Let us know if this does or doesn't work, and let us know if you have any other issues.

And for the love of all that is holy and great, please contribute to the bugs reported on the issue council so that CIG knows what to fix. Even if all you do is say you've reproduced a bug, it pushes that bug up the queue faster. The issue council can also be a good place to find temporary work-a-rounds for some of the bugs reported.

I truly believe that one of the MAJOR problems with alpha 3.0 is that it is so memory hungry! on top of that, there appears to be memory leaks which tend to grow longer/bigger as you are in an instance. I really do believe that a great proportion of the "issues" experienced are not bugs in the game code but are related to the memory leaks... as they grow, they (the memory leaks) tend to step on other functions/assets of the game... i.e. joystick / keyboard stops working or certain funtions stop working and ships spawn missing parts.
There probably is not a lot that you can do about this other than attempting to maximize your available memory so it can be used by the game. If you have less than 16 Gb system memory I would advise upgrading to 16 Gb or more. Try to avoid having other applications open while playing.. and... as said file reports in the issue council!
The preceding is totally my own opinion.

So far have only tried to do the missions where pickup is on Cella, where you can not pickup the package. There are plenty of tickets on that issue though.

I currently and actually have never been able to pull and shoot a pistol or SMG. Ship Weapons fire just fine, but no personal weapons.

Also had a weird glitch at Levski where I was in the elevator from level 4 to Customs level 1 without my suit on, and when got to level 1 I suffocated even though atmo was 1.00. Thankfully I spawned in a hab there went back out on level 1 and tried again with no helmet just to see if there was an issue but this time did not die. :beers:

Small update. The experience today was A LOT smoother. Was actually able to complete a mission with my Sabre and fly my Cutlass to a planet and 'land' it firmly on the surface (note to self; when flying on the dark side of a moon, keep a close eye on the altitude meter because the ground is closer than you might think).

Loved it. :smile:

Yeah, the servers aren't consistent yet. Sometimes you don't get a good server for days, then suddenly everything works fine.

Some days I get great servers which give me 69 fps for about 5 minutes and 45 ish for the next 20. Some days I join baaaad servers where the fps stays around 8 to 12 and weird things happen. One time I was taking off and I had to go up and over a mountain, so I slowed down and pulled up to get up over the mountain. Easy enough, so then I used afterburner to accelerate back to top speed to carry on my way. The server didn't like this and put be 60 seconds back in time to before I went over the mountain with my ship still keeping my current speed and velocity. I smashed so hard into that mountain that I had clearly flown over not too long before.

I've also been stuck in an elevator before where none of the buttons worked and the door stayed shut. I need to carry grenades for situations just like that.

lol, not only is the ground closer than you think, but, it also comes at you a lot faster than you expect, esp. when causing on afterburners!

Also, fyi, the r_DisplayInfo 3 thing tells you your Frames per Second & Seconds per Frame. It doesn't tell you ping/latency.

That's pretty much my experience, every friggin' time I take off at Grim Hex...I'm at the point where I just take off from Grim, go up about 50m and just hang out for about a minute or two (set my destination, do a quick look at the Forums at TestSquadron.com :) , etc.) and wait for the inevitable smash back onto the pad, and *then* take off and head back towards Olisar (with a full load of laranite in my Freelancer or Connie).
