Jumptown as Org Op?

So, I got to thinking, and given that drug running is the most profitable rrade right now, and the most interesting stuff in the game tends to happen in conflicts around jump town, maybe we could try to get a serious operation going here.

Players needed:

X Smugglers

2 Escorts for Each Smuggler

1x Heavy Support Vessel + Turrets

1x Overwatch

The idea is that a pair of escorts gets assigned to each smuggler. They always stay with them, to and from Jumptown. While the smuggler is waiting in line for Widow, they serve as patrols for the lab. Then, when it's time to leave, the Smuggler gives them combat beacons designed to give out 10% each of the profit divided up across the amount of time it takes to get to/from the port for sale. Levski might be ideal so the smuggler can bring Ag supplies on the return trip.

This way, the escorts can get paid too, while also having something to do instead of just sitting around and waiting for something to happen. It also means that any attackers are never quite sure how many of us there are, and the trip back to port gives the escorts a chance to swap ships to adjust to threats, or refuel/rearm. On top of that, several groups of three ships coming and going from Jumptown are bound to draw attention eventually, and potentially bring in more conflict.

This still leaves the heavy support ship hovering over the lab, and the Overwatch higher up in the atmosphere to scan-spam, but they'll be racketeering and forcing anyone who wants to trade to pony up 1-2k for access to the lab. It's mean as shit, but proper piracy, and that will most certainly draw attention as well. Edit: We also don't have to be heartless. If someone claims they don't have the money, theg get one free pass, but we expect them to have the money if they return for a second trip.

Thoughts?Anyone interested in something more organized like this?

This is great. And something that should be going on, to plant the seed of the impact of TEST as THE Org to follow, and fear when it comes to security/military operations.

I think the heads of the Yellow Jackets should be part of the discussion, this being the military/security branch per se of the Org. And they have the experience when it comes to operations, training and the desired Org strategy when it comes to spots like Jumptown: @IcaroSP @marcsand2 @DirectorGunner @spectre44

I am in!

I will gladly dedicate time and assets to this. Either the Caterpillar or Eclipse should do just nicely.

This sounds like a lot of fun! I'm newish, and my best ship is an Avenger Titan, so I would happy to be an escort for now.
Actually, the Titan might work in your favor. Widow only sells and buys in smaller quantities, so you would have no trouble filling your hold, and you'd be able to get back to pick up another load faster. Not to mention, faster ship means shorter atmo flight times.

Another layer to this could be having some boots on the ground. Like a security detail in and/or around the building?
I didn't specify this because it's going to be hard enough to get 2 pilots for each smuggler, but this is something to consider since last time a hoplite managed to drop troops off while we were shooting it down.

Makes sense. And ya, If my ship could work better as a transport for the drug then I'm down for that as well, because honestly, I need the cash ;)

I have a Valkyrie that I would just LOVE to use to drop off 20 heavily armed knuckleheads and a Cyclone TR for security! I can also man a turret on a hammerhead or bring my own. Semper Gumby! Always flexible!

I don't think it will have that much of an impact, honestly. It's already been done a few times, just not on this scale and not as an official Op. I brought it up because there are several players who would rather smuggle, and I think this might be a way to fairly spread the wealth around.

I'm more concerned that it is difficult to get a hard time count on a single smuggling run. Too many smugglers and you're having too many people away from Jumptown for too long, and too few you're not getting a steady flow of Widow going out.

20 People is way too many. Which brings up the next point: how many people do we commit to this? Too many and you own the server, so there's no point in having escorts and the smugglers are fighting eachother to sell the cargo.

I think we would have to cap it at 20 People per server total. That's 4 Smugglers, 8 Escorts, 1 Overwatch, 1 Support Pilot, and 6 people to divvy up between turrets and marines. The Hammerhead/Gemini/600i? Pilot could flex between gunner/pilot if the ship lands near the lab too.
