I don't know. I'm wiping the drool off my shirt, so i'll go with @marcsand2's math.
I may take a serious look at the Samsung 49" computer monitor in a few months. It's the largest thing that would fit on my desk, "and I need a lot of screen real-estate" (*) for work.
(* That kind of worked when I told my wife...)

I have been eyeing the 49" super ultra-wide for some time. This is about the same price. Are there reasons to not choose this, like refresh rate? I saw it is rated 120 for motion (under specs) and I'm wondering if that means it has a 120 hz refresh rate. I'm not familiar with all the details of difference between a video monitor and a computer monitor.

I don't have room for anything right now, but if this means you can see out the top of your Polaris bridge just by looking up. . .well. . .

The 49" has a 1800mm dia. radius curve, so just inside 2 meters. If this above is the same, three ought to fit nicely inside this, and we can go for the Darth Vader look:

or I could buy a car.

that is the 2x 27" 1920x1080 = 49" 3840x1080 super ultra wide. You might wont to wait for the 2x 27" 2560x1140 = 49" 5120x1440 super ultra wide display, the CRG9 49”: https://news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-new-2019-monitors-are-designed-for-modern-workspaces-and-next-generation-gaming

so i'll go with @marcsand2's math.
Yeap, I had to get a fitting center screen with equal dpi as my 2 side screens, 24" @1920x1200, and it had to fit. Also the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs gave me a headache to find a perfect fitting tablet with all buttons and connection at the right spot for my application, so I learned to do the math on dimensions.

I haven't found the radius of the 65" display, but I doubt it. It is intended for watching movies, so a 1800 mm curve wouldn't make any sense.

There are some technical and legal caveats to use this for the front windscreen on the family car, but the tech to do this has existed for a while now, complete with night vision. In the family car, this technology is going to be stepped over entirely by AI and driverless vehicles. While you wait for that... check out this stuff.

You don't need a Jaguar to do that, but it's good for effect. Note that it's from over 4 years ago.

Oh no! There's a better one coming?! My life is worthless if my wife finds out!
It's the same size, probably another price. If you do it tactically, your wife maybe won't notice. I once switched my wifes display with a slightly smaller one. She noticed a change but it took her a while to find out what exactly happened 😁

The problem with VR is you can't see your controls of any kind. I think VR is going to be better with games that you can manage with a gaming controller.

USAF uses gaming controllers to fly drones, so it should be possible for flying a ship in SC, but I don't think that is the fashion. For FPS combat a controller might be best, but I would hate to fly a ship that way.

I keep adding these things to my cart then wondering if VR is the better way to go when SC goes beta.
Nope, did you ever tried to drink a beer in VR? When you emptied your bottle, try to get a new bottle from the fridge while the fridge and the bottle don't show up in VR?

It also doesn't show your fridge or beer bottles.

I would think by now we should all be able to find our beer fridge open take out and consume a bottle of beer with out needing our eye sight or turning on the lights. I mean we can all use more practice but..

The idea I had bore fruit. I don't know quite how to explain it or explain what my interest in it is. But if you're interested in that kind of thing, read:

VR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_reality
AR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality
MR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_reality

One thing you will note is that the technology goes further than current virtual reality. Most of it is still in development but they do know how to do some amazing things already. On the AR page if you scroll down to where it says Eyeglasses, you'll find the part of the technology that I am most interested in.

Yeah, latency really is the issue and when I look it up, there is a note on wiki that no one includes this spec in their stats, and that some monitors have latency as long as 68ms, which is several frames at 60 fps. So in general there is no way to tell what the latency is it seems. Only way to tell would be go into a store and hook it to a game to see what the experience is?

We have the Microsoft Hololens at work. It feels very clumsy and if you want to use your head to point at something... too precise. Like the TrackIR stock, you first need to adjust the curves to let it become useful. Unfortunately my colleague didn't had any option to adjust the curves on the Hololens.
Another colleague had VR glasses and warned at a roller coaster demonstration of it that people tend to get disorientated and tend to fall down.... motorcycle driving skills helped a lot. Everybody had to sit down, but at half, he removed my chair and let me go free flight.
