Lol wth is that seriously is that a true story?
What is truth? I will say, it has a certain "truthiness" about it though.

Ok, I posted the damn thing, so I should go the extra mile and fact check. It appears to be true, the article announcing the discovery and naming has not been submitted for publication yet (so has not yet undergone peer review), so there are still a few steps left in the official naming process:

Try making a list of what is right with the world, it'll be a lot shorter and a lot faster.
So true.... we have ourselves in one big blunder hope human kind can finally stop pointing fingers at other people and actually work together again like we use to. Communication seems to be destroying the world i'm sorry to say but some people should just not have a way to voice their thoughts.

I think most people of this world are very verse in this and its only fringe groups magnified by media attempting to draw views that makes it seem its far bigger then what it really is.

Imagine how the world would be if everyone who heared the guy shouting "The British are coming!!" said "Oh him? Pffft he's being alarmist."

Better to react and it be a false alarm than ignore and you're paying your Tea Tax again.

I dont know people really come out of their shells when they can hide behind a computer.
It works both ways, it gives people with an opinion a platform but it also gives people without a voice a presence.

I was part of a forum meetup on a previous forum I was on... apart from the life-and-souls of the party people, everyone else just kept themselves to themselves. I was dying to talk to a few of the people there but just couldn't go up to them!

If I went to Britizen Con I probably wouldn't talk to anyone, dispite it being a room full of kindred spirits. 🙂

But we also have the boy who cried wall and stop making mountains out of molehills. This is not to say we should always ignore the criers, but to validate their credibility and true measure of the issue and the scope of its impact. All to often it seems that isolated incidence are drummed up into global pandemics, and in the end we loose sight of balance and everyone is the bogyman.

When we are talking about what is, as far as we know, the only life sustaining planet in existence - I'd say it's worth while to make a bit of a molehill out of it.

If they are wrong, where is the harm in doing something? It won't actually effect anything and we'll all be fine.
If they are right? There isn't anywhere else to go if they are right. Thats it. The end.

All the sheep, all the wolves and all the moles that make the molehills won't matter as they will be gone too. The mountains may still be there, but they will be barren. The planet has had several near-total extinction events where life has only just clung on. This isn't sensationalism it's happened several times, we are lucky to be here, as big as it is the Earth isn't some indestructible fortress.

As far as we are aware we are the first species that has it in our power to actually do something to prevent - or cause - the next mass extinction event. Some scientists think we are actually in one right now.

So where is the actual harm in doing something about it now and gauging if we needed to when we actually have the technology, knowledge and ability to tell if it was worth it?

Who wants to live forever. It's weird that there are people out there, in our world, that think that we can't influence the world we live in. It's equally as weird that there are people out that who think the Earth it flat. The truth is my kids and your kids are going to grow up in a world with famine, violent weather, and the super rich that run everything if we keep going down this path. Elysium anyone?
