Well, since SOMEONE made a point of quoting me, I will mention that I have my doubts about filling the crew quarters with beer kegs as I was hoping to hire some 20ish year old female crew members who I hoped would use the area to do yoga...
A brilliant idea @Tealwraith !

Ehem, if I may, I suggest using the captain's quarters for the yoga.
Great idea @LiTtLeJoE , but I'll spice up that yoga with poses as well as activities from the Kama Sutra. ;p Just remember that the 600i has a rather large window across the front of the Captain's quarters, so if you practice that while docked at a public landing pad, you may be rather popular when you eventually head inside. Cheers!

You guys put a lot of stock in NPC crew. Knock yourself out, there's no reason you can't theorycraft around that. But my advice is, buy the cheapest ship you can now, that will give you the game play you want right now. You can upgrade later. It also avoids some of the pointed questions when your pregnant wife discovers there is a sinkhole in the family financial resources. You might want to minimize that as much as possible.
Well it's not my balls. There his. 👇 Ball preservation is your choice, but to me I wouldn't want my advice to result in a cut and dried decision, so to speak.
John Wayne Bobbitt would approve of the point that @Vavrik is making.

Extremely wise advice here. The reckoning actually went over way better than I thought. Naturally, I owe her now and I'm suddenly very afraid.
I have no doubt of your sudden fear of the possibility to come.

Im hoping to hire a crew out. I really hope Ill be able to hire a Tevarin as well!
I'm hoping that CIG will eventually have their devs create sexy clothing for the ladies in game to enjoy if they want to as well as either installing nudity into the game or allowing players to install mods on their end to allow them to view in game nudity. After all, they have already installed toilets, showers & hot tubs into ships with the 890J also coming with a swimming pool & a private grotto. So it would only make sense to include nudity & sexy clothing.

one of the reasons I have a 'Lancer

you don't have to fly it solo, it will hold a crew of four
That works, and you can also fly it alone if you need to, and not lose any big capability.

... Signed Satisfied Freelancer Owner.
I seem to recall somebody about 5-6 comments down on the 1st page mentioning both the 315p & Freelancer DUR as suitable solo capable exploration ships as alternatives. ;p

I don't remember what the 600i is worth, but I bet it's somewhere around 3 and 4 Freelancer DUR's. That gives you some $$ to play with.
Great minds think alike. (Even if I happen to own a Carrack, 600i Exploration version, Freelancer DUR & 315p. I have a feeling that I'll be doing some sight seeing in game. lol )

If it turns out that any M sized scan package will go into any M sized radar slot, and there are no significant differences in antennas and such (questionable since the Tally and Lancer have versions specific to exploration and could offer advantages), then the top speed is an important criteria, since your scan rate is linear with SCM.
Very good point @Shadow Reaper & it reminded me of something so obvious that I feel rather stupid having not thought about mentioning it earlier. If a person is looking to mostly perform solo exploration in the Verse, there is also the Anvil Terrapin. It's a small size ship with a single bed for extended journeys, a jump drive, an M size scanner, it's got military armor, an M size shield generator & has the ability to reduce its thermal output to help conceal it from being detected.

The people who mentioned the Freelancer DUR are right. It will be a very nice solo exploration ship. It won't have the capabilities of the Aquila or 600i(e), but it's a very nice little run about.

What do you want your ship to be able to do?

If it's do exploration AND trade, get the Aquila. If you want to explore use the chariot, sorry Ursa, to explore the area and bring back stuff, get the 600i. If you are looking to explore using your ship and bring stuff back, but not have a rover, the DUR might be the best solution.

You could also consider 2 ships. The Aquila for longer range explorations, and get a 315a for short range exploration. The other option is the 600i, and a DUR. I would not get a 600i and an Aquila, or an Aquila and a DUR. Same for the Lancer and 315. They are all too close together. 600i and a 315 is also a viable choice.

The best jack of all trades ship is hands down the Aquila, followed by the DUR and then the 600i.

I rode in @LoicFarris's 600i this afternoon... I'm re-thinking my ship mix a little... But so far, my bank account is saying "Not this month, or next, sunshine."

I've got both versions of the 600i that you can borrow whenever you want @Vavrik , just let me know when to log on & unlock it for you. Cheers my friend!

Well that's the thing, you're not buying a ship you are pledging funds to the project so the game can be bigger and better. The ship is a reward for your pledge.

So firstly, thank you very much for making such a kind commitment to the project, you are helping to make the dream a reality.

And secondly, we don't know if the 600 is going to suck or not. Right now from what I've heared, it's turning out to be very okay. So nil desperandum there are always options like melting, as you say :)

One thing to note: Although the $ value may be X times the value of another pledge ship, in the final game a 600i will likely be 20 times that in game currency. Getting a 600i now may well be much more affordable than grinding up the credits for it in game.
Many good points of clarity here and you are absolutely correct.

I'm very glad to be supporting the project, in a strange way I'm actually honored, but sometimes I question the manner in which I do so. Thankfully, I can always melt and reallocate as game loops evolve and change as you suggested.

I only hope CIG has the funding, stubbornness, and fortitude to continue making SC as special as it is starting to be.

Fantastic idea!!! I've already got a caterpillar for trading, so I might go for a 600i/DUR setup. Seems like a very solid setup for solo exploration of both small and medium-to-large jump points.

At this point, I might looking at cashing in the 600i (along with a few others) and picking up the concierge Mac daddy explorer's package.

Thanks for the input!

I looked hard at the space turtle, but ultimately decided against it as I wanted to take a ground vehicle like an x1 or Ursa.

Can we loop back to pirate ninjas? I’d like to see our research division look at upgrading them to fast zombie pirate ninjas. What better in the depths of space than pirate ninjas who don’t need to breathe?
Zombie Pirate Ninjas would be... Unstoppable...

We must begin research immediately!!!
Mmmm, now that's an idea.

So, to create these super-soldgiers I think we must do the following:

1) Start a natural Ninja breeding program, Ninjas are born not made.
2) Train the raw Ninjas with super-execrated Sensei's to bring the Ninjas natural skillz to their peak as quickly as possible.
3) Train the trained Ninjas with experienced Pirate Captains (retired) on roller skates to make their training quicker.
4) Once we have ninja trained and pirate trained Pirate Ninjas, they have proved themselves in the white hot forge of battle, we have to take the cream of the forces and make them Zombies. This is probably the simplest task in this process, as all we have to do is is expose them to Zombifying Material which can be found in the same way and mining veins as Quantum Material can be found in. The brave boys and girls of Rock Raiders will easily be able to find enough ZM for our purposes.

Pirate Ninjas + Zombifying Material = Success!

While @NaffNaffBobFace does have a rather interesting approach to this idea, I would suggest an alternative route that could be possibly performed at the same time separately.

I'd suggest that we have 1 of our best, brightest & most loyal be trained in the ninja arts as well as in the various aspects of space piracy. Then find some obsidian to perform the Night King ritual from GoT on that chosen TESTie. Have that new TEST Reaper convert those of us that want to be their champions as well as bestow upon the transformed champions the ability to raise the dead as well as to control the dead around them, white walker style. Place the hordes of zombie ninja pirates under the guidance of the TEST Reaper & their champions. Raise up all of those that the ZNPs kill to be the minions that deal with the more mundane functions of fleet maintenance.

If we're going to theory craft, we might as well go all out, right? ;p

Absolutely, the only limits to the TEST Weapons Research Lab are our imagination and how many cool things we have seen on TV 🙂

Yeah. I think if you know you want M radar, then you have 3 good choices. The Vanguards are the fastest and can outrun many ships. They're also the best armed of the three. The Terrapin is the stealthiest, and lets face it, that is a huge advantage. Given a choice out in the black alone, avoiding a fight is probably better than winning a fight. It is also quite quick, it only loses about 10% scan volume over the Vanguards, and its scan ability could well be better despite they offer the same size radar. However, neither of these have cargo pads. If you want to haul as part of your design, then the Lancer seems the way to go. I certainly would want an NPC aboard no matter which you choose.

Crazy as it sounds, another option is to go for L radar. Depending upon how well the NPC pilot dynamic works out, I think it is going to be an interesting option to fly the StarG with Tana and Sen escorts. Then you have virtually unlimited touring capability. The new Tana has S2 missiles, so it is a serious threat, and if you had several flying screen around a StarG, and NPCs manning the StarG turrets, and several Sens extending the scan range of the L radar on the StarG, that could prove a challenging and fun role. Just as always, you need to be ready to jump away rather than choose to stick out every fight. One nice side benefit is you can earn a living harvesting and hauling fuel--something most explorers can't do.
