Some very interesting categories here. Some cosmetic items cost money and some are included or cost nothing.
The weapons and component packages are my favorite though. Let's see.. a 325a with dual size 3 distortion repeaters? Yes please

Your Feedback is needed badly......
1. Concerning the 300 variants.....
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/4/thread/ptu-feedback-300-series-variants
2. The Customizer
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/4/thread/ptu-feedback-ship-customizer

The prices and loadouts (especially weapons, etc) are just placeholders for testing purposes.
I look forward to being able to do all of our ships.

**** HELP 'Ole CosmicTrader get the color GREEN......... Please. CIG seems to have forgotten GREEN.
Thanks.

overall the customizer works great. Prices are okay, except maybe for the packages. I think 18-29 $ for a 60-80$ ship is too much. I would feel more happy with 10-20$ for those packages.
Something else to consider is economic scaling. Perhaps CIG could scale customization costs with the actual ship being customized. So painting an Idris TEST yellow or adding wood trim would cost much more than a 300i because it's obviously a much larger ship and requires more materials to complete.

Best of all, this approach would be much easier on newer/poorer players, especially those with starter ships, as they could trick out an Aurora for as little as $5-$15. It would be a scalable "gateway drug" monitization system for CIG as well. Everybody wins (except for the poor bastard that has to spend an extra $150-$250 putting hello kitty paint on their Idris).

Not sure if this would survive contact with reality, but it sounded good in my brain...

This sounds like the best way to do it imo.
Just one concern though: what happens to the guy that didn't buy his Idris with real money? Let's say he spent two years grinding out the in game currency, reputation and whatnot to get one. He earned it. Then he is shit out of luck and has to pony up a 150 for a paint job? Doesn't sound too great.
I guess with large multicrew ships, if player-run, you can ask the others to pitch in, but sounds like a very low chance. These customizations should be capped at something like 5usd/minimum-neccesary-crew numbers or something. The less it costs, the higher chance more ppl will buy into it.

I think the component packages are too pricey, but also the best part of the customization. 315p was one of the first ships I purchased (after my Aurora game package!) and I frankly hated it, I kept it a long time though melted it after 3.3.5 when I realized that it had the slowest QT drive in the game.

However, now that I got one in the PTU, and was able to customize it to not only Test colors, but now defaults to a much faster QT drive the 315 is a really fun ship to fly and I totally intend to purchase a new upgraded one during the Origin event, I have found myself flying it a lot in the PTU. I do hope they bring the prices down on the upgrades though, 1 to 2 bucks for the cosmetic stuff is totally good, but the component packages need to come down to the 10 - 15 range I think.

I haven't checked it out yet, but wanted to comment that, with the way the ship component stats and weapons stats keep changing (and are going to keep changing due to balancing) it is WAY too early to customize anything other than the paint job....

That doesn't bother me since you can just melt anything and get full value back.

Well, the customization system is live as of today... just when I release my video haha! So I went in an customized my 325a, it's almost identical to how it looks in the video I released on the subject.
