Thank you Glorious Leader!

This seems to happen, I start working on a sizeable video and then a new patch comes along and eradicates what I was working on... I should make more videos and then we'd get more patches faster...

Not to worry, time to play, not work! 🙂

My experience of 3.6 so far:

I went to Daymar to practice Hover Mode. Chose ArcCorp Mining 141 as it was on the day side and I could respawn a vehicle if I crashed.

Was asking in chat about how to control the power of the ship thrusters (seems to be intented for joystick wagglers and you have to bind it so pretty pointless for me with my keyboard and mouse.) when I was taken down by a selection of missiles, must have had 20 seconds of Hover so got no experience.

Mentioned in chat and someone said "And what ground vehicle have they just introduced...?" and I was like "Ahhhh, got ya."

Came back at them in a new ship going as fast as I could, I think the 350R currently has a top speed of 230m/s in atmosphere at ground level which seemed a little slow in comparison to previous? Fired off a couple of shots before hitting the armistice zone nixing my guns, missed the Barista anyway and in my confusion rammed into the landed cutlass next to it which flipped off into the distance. Neither the Cutlass or my 350R exploded, I assume because it was an armistice zone. My ship was then partly jammed in a building with the throttle full on - I didn't know how to work hover mode and would have been taken out by the Barista anyway, so I ejected and made it to the surface without being killed.

Another Barista was just coming off the spawn pad, I assume the other one had run out of ammo, so I ran up to it expecting to be crushed under the wheels but clipped inside it instead. Sat in the missile firing seat, went remote but couldn't get it to do much. Got out to find the driver had moved outside the Armistice Zone and was waiting for me to get out the seat. So I went into the drivers seat and found it had a remote turret too for the mini-guns at the front. Cool, but it drives like a truck. Because it is. Not sporty enough for me.

I then tried to exit the vehicle but could not I assume as I had clipped inside. Backspace suicided but would not respawn. Closed game, went back in to claim on my ship and then called it a day.

For a first expiriance it was entertaining but good gods what have they unleashed upon the 'Verse? I won't be able to land anywhere now.

Hover mode is fine if you are patient, but it definitely needs a lot of work to get anywhere close to how current VTOL craft work. I found it most annoying in a Constellation since those have main thrusters that magically become inoperable at a certain speed and no input. That said, I have landed at ArcCorp and Lorville without much of an issue with it using a Caterpillar, Vanguard, Valkyrie, Hammerhead and Constellation.

Pretty stable live release so far.

Some minor bugs, the doors on the 600i dont open, so Im trapped!
They have some serious work to do on the flight model too. Wow. I was landing the Connie and it was sliding down hill after the engines were off. Then it turned around, rolled and accelerated, in the opposite direction. Before coming to a complete stop it somehow ripped the engines off of the side that was not touching the ground. That's a pretty fantastic trick.

people keeping saying Baristas on this forum, do you mean the new vehicle the Ballista?

Also isnt a Barista the people who make your coffee?
It's purely for the lolz. It's like calling the Legatus package the Legotits package or the Nova Tank the Nova Tonk. The Anvil Barista, more power than a double espresso.

I set a temperature alarm, and it didn't go off before the latest crash. Maybe it's a RAM issue. Anyone else have problems running 16GB of RAM?

Not I, with 32 Gb RAM. I haven't played SC with my 16Gb laptop though, don't think I can at the moment even if I wanted to. Think the kid "borrowed" the power supply.

3.6 is my most disappointing patch thus far. Seems like they broke more than they fixed. Mining is broken. Trading is nonexistent due to the lack of supply. Combat is wonky with atmosphere combat being really fun until you try to do a maneuver at low speed and end up smashing into the dirt because apparently SC ships generate less thrust than a 737.

The way I look at it is they are still adding more mechanics. The new hotness is what they want testing as they have only just built it.

There is no point introducing Salvage, for instance, if everyone keeps running those drugs from Jump Town to GrimHex, they won't be getting the data they need... so that part of the game is made unprofitable or inconvenient of just don't maintain it until the point it doesn't really work, and make all the stuff that needs testing the things that get you the rewards from...

That's how I'd do it anyway.

The air combat is probably part of what needs testing right now, and by the sounds of it, it needs it.
