I'm done with CIG being radio silent, and I hate survival games, and with the newly required eating mechanics, I want out. I want to sell my stuff, but I'm pretty sure everything I own may not be giftable. I need advice on what to do.

Thank you.

Everyting is gone except for an Advanced Hunter Package.

I'll peek in from time to time, and see what the game looks like at launch.

Didn't CIG confirm survival mechanics like 3 years ago?

I know if you spend any amount of money, say $20 for an Aurora, then you can spend store credit to upgrade it and it will be giftable, but obviously you need to spend new money to do this. That is the only way I know how to make store credit somewhat giftable. Or there are people that buy accounts but that is risky.

They said they would be optional only, and only provide temporary buffs.

Today they confirmed that eating would be required, and will result in character death if ignored.

I despise survival games, I didn't back a space based survival game. This is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I see this as unnecessary scope creep being shoveled in. This is just as much a betrayal in my eyes as what MWO did to us original backers. I just want out, and am fully aware I'm going to take a loss.

if you are serious about selling everything off and you are 100% sure its not giftable then you will have to melt those items and sell as "Credits" to sell them as credits you have to buy with fresh money a cheap ship(20 usd aurora or something) then upgrade it to the total amount of credit value you are trying to sell. You will probably have to sell the credits at 70-80% the value so expect a bit of a loss.

option 2 is find someone who wants to buy everything on your account and buy the account overall. list the things in your buyback so they know what they can do with the account. this option you may be able to sell at value depending what you have.

Where did they confirm that you have to eat or you die?

I like to see that 🍻

AM,

Just a suggestion...Before you give up on SC I'd like to offer a few things to consider:
The term "survival game" has many definitions.
a. Consuming nutrition based on what they've been doing in game.
b. Consuming nutrition based on a characters skill level
c. Consuming nutrition ANYTIME

Games like "SCUM", "7 Days to Die", "Ark" and "Conan Exiles" fall into the true definition of a "survival game to me. Not Star Citizen.
I know many players have run through the game passing vendors, restaurants, etc. and I have to wonder do they think those things are just there for decoration?
They're there and easily accessible as social zones.

In STAR WARS GALAXIES we had to visit doctors and cantinas to be buffed and healed (basically the same as eating). We would have to do this for up to 10-15 minutes depending on how bad you were injured. No one complained about it taking away from gameplay. Eating a candy bar, burger or drinking water once every 3 hours can't even be compared!

If you think this mechanic turns players off , wait until limited inventory kicks in (we're all use to having a "magic bag-of-holding" right now. Yet, I believe CIG will make this mechanic one we'll be satisfied with in the end.

This isn't the first time CIG has introduced something in the game design that some in the community didn't agree with (i.e. hover-mode, struts). When the community responded with rational criticism they listened and made changes. That's the purpose of backers voices during Alpha (which you already know).

CIG is also still working through this mechanic and NOTHING IS IN STONE. We're far from things being permanent. I'd suggest you continue to enjoy the game, raise your concerns in Spectrum (a toll which too many people don't use) and wait to see. If you bail now you may find their final decision is one you'd find works.

ADDENDUM:
I think the statement highlighted below from the devs may give some hope:

In terms of how often you should be eating/drinking - the idea behind it was to make it long enough so that it was not intrusive to the gameplay - but short enough that at least you had to eat/drink once a play session (i.e. several hours). If we made it too long it would kind of devalue the purpose of having it at all.

Hope you're stick around, hate to see you go!

CIG needs to give up this 'eat or die' thing. Assume that no one is going to let themselves starve to death, that everyone is eating and drinking in a basic, rationed, survival mode. Anyone who doesn't take the time to eat and drink gets their health reduced to 75% or stamina regen reduced by 50% or some other mechanic to make you want to keep up your normal metabolism. Ditch the eat or die, it's a dumb concept that would only be realistic if you were stranded on some lifeless moon and you'd probably run out of oxygen before you starved or dehydrated.

I think you are reading into this a bit much, if eating is required to survive I am thinking it will be over a decent amount of time like weeks, not hours, minutes or days as this would be to tedious and if it were I would agree with you 100% I don't want to spend my days eating food, but if its a weekly thing I could care less.

Seriously though, how much time do you spend looking at your keyboard while in quantum travel? It literally takes 5, 10 or even as much as 15 minutes to get around in this game and that is only one system, wait till there are multiple systems and it takes an hour to get somewhere, walking to the back of your ship in quantum to eat some food shouldn't be to big of a deal, but I get it, I HATE survival games, but again this not one of those typical survival pvp type games this is more of an immersion mechanic to make people feel immersed in the game.
