But first.. coffee

Hahahahaha! How's that Nespresso machine serving you?
Funny thing is, a colleague and I did the 3D art renders for that machine's box art and pics of it for the Nespresso website!
I've been known as the Nespresso Guy at the studio cos usually I'm the one that gets to do them :D For the last 4 years or so I did the renders for the box/web art for a bunch of their new models!

You noticed the swing ring, but did you notice the thing looking like a dance pole above his head? :D Maybe it's part of the set for his onlyfans site? 😂

Good vid, I really liked the settlement stuff, looks very Tatooine and I love it for that! I hope to build a farm on the Test Planet with a huge row of hangars (underground if possible) and collect All the ships lol

When I left the first studio I worked at and turned freelancer, doing a Nespresso machine was the first job I got at this studio.

I got dropped into the middle of the project already running for months. The peeps already working on it are really great artists, but the project was going on for so long that they were not on top of being organized and doing things systematically, which is kinda neccessary if you have to do like 16 color and branding variations from 5 different angles on the same thing in a few days time. It was kinda falling apart with artists being assigned and reassigned out of necessity. As I came from a feature film studio, where working in an organized fashion is a must have skill, I had the technical things down way more then they did at that point. We managed to finish up this first one waaay over time, not entirely our own fault, but it was a good lesson in doing things in a modular, more organized fashion. After this first one and not much later working on the machine you have, everyone was fed up with doing these mundane machine renders, so I basically took over doing all the Nespresso still shots by myself and with the help of a wonderful production manager.

My colleagues still do amazing work on the in-shop movies and ads cos they are more familiar with the shiny effects these type of clients like to see, and I'm not particularly good at that yet. But the "grind" of doing "36 still images of variations in a day" went to me because I could do it in an "assembly line" technique much faster. And probably because they just can't be arsed to do it, while I don't mind the monotone tasks. Gives me more time to listen to our Glorious Leader on Youtube lol

Seems like most of the Nespresso stuff got taken down, but here's the website of the UK studio that we do the work with here in Hungary. It's kind of a joint venture by the owners.

heres one nespresso bit, it's old, I didn't work on this one:

Some of the stuff I worked on for this studio in no particular order:

https://www.bosecollins.co.uk/portfolio/bulova2018/ - IF you only watch one video of these listed, make it this one! It looks fantastic imo.

I only did the steel w blue face men's curve watch. I had to model everything that you see on the inside cos the CADs we got didn't include any of the mechanics. For obvious reasons ofc. I did the "heart" on the ladies model as well. You can recognize mine easily cos my images are looking flat compared to the amazing stuff the others did. And yes, we did have a bunch of samples to wear around in the studio for a couple of months while we worked on this! Even the very limited Grammys Edition. Sadly we had to send back the thousands of dollars worth of watches lol

https://www.bosecollins.co.uk/portfolio/yves-rocher-lift/ - just helped out by doing the 3d model/texture of the product. Sometimes we get digital assets of the products, sometimes we have to make our own... This was the latter case

https://www.bosecollins.co.uk/portfolio/swagelok/ - I did the stethoscope. Had to work from their catalogue of actually available parts. I come from an engineer family so this was interesting for me. The guy that did the "brain" is into PC games, I'll try to get him on for the IAE freefly event, maybe he will join up!

https://www.bosecollins.co.uk/portfolio/ralph-lauren-fragrances/ - did mostly the stills of the bottles, god I hated these packshots by the end. It took ages to get the renders done and postworked in 16K lol But we got to splash around the full size samples of all of these. I didn't particularly fancy any of the scents, but the best one was the blue man's and the gold topped lady's bottle. I think those are the most expensive as well lol.

I worked on sooo many of things I can't really recall cos I only did small bits here and there. I kinda remember doing compositing cleanup on the Dove cos that was mostly filmed irl with a Phantom, I memba doing the Honda USA Christmas ads for their website a couple of years ago, I did a bunch of comping for an Italian alcoholic beverage company that I'm not at liberty to name cos we had to abandon the project, I did work on the 2018 2019 and 2020 (coming in 2021) Schlosslichtspiele light projections...

They do make a final pass on most art, color correcting for print and such it looks better on the box. They like to crank the contrast to 11 for that crisp shiny look, and they add the necessary background gradients and such, so it's not a 100% my work, but close.

Working on Nespresso stuff is really chill, I liked it a lot. They are easy to work with, they send all the stuff I ask for like CAD models, reference photos, packs of new designed pods, one time they even sent TWO complete machines for color reference we got to keep!
There's some really cool stuff working on these types of jobs (like wearing limited edition Bulova's as reference)
One day, maybe I'll tell you the story of how I blew 7000+ Euros of the studios money on a single render-farm job that we couldn't even use in the end lol
(It wasn't for Nespresso)

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea. Probably like 50grand USD? I might be totally off though and it was only 25g, or maybe even 80g. I'm not privy to such information.
Here's some more trippy stuff we did

@Montoya... what the hell... only @Aramsolari's TV set has a utensil drawer that looks like that. With kids I do not see how this happens, that is why you are our glorious leader. A single, obsessive compulsive, yuppie type downtown Vancouver, I would expect this, because they never use it and always eat out.

haha yeah i could never afford something like that maybe im in the wrong business.
hehehe, yeah me neither. Good thing I can make em :D
If you or any Testie needs 3D stuff done be it small personal or large studio level project, hit me up with a PM!

Man, I sure wish I could drink coffee. Love the smell and taste of a good eXprexxxo!
Would grab one of the US sample machines from the studio and make it work on EU power with some voltage adapter lol

I hope we get to see some rudimentary form of small settlements by the second update next year. Ai traffic and having at least some signs of life around the PU would add a lot imo.
