Just got back from the VA after receiving my first dose of the covid shot. About 3 hours later and i feel (under the weather) tired. Talking to the nurse, people who come in for their second dose reported that after their first one, the biggest thing was just the absolute exhaustion some people feel for up to 72 hours afterwards, but she said its usually just a day or two for most people. No soreness at the injection site, no chills or anything, I think I'm gonna live.

Ill add the pamphlet I was given for the curious. I wont include the front of the CDC card they give you as your official vaccination record because it includes my name and last 4 of my social. Its like a flash card, but has the vaccine info for each date you receive a dose. Mine says: Pfizer EN6208 , todays date, vaccination site (VA).

I hope the media is not spinning this wrong. This is a normal precaution after any cluster of adverse events.

Also, @Jolly_Green_Giant, thanks for that update. My wife and I are scheduled for the first dose next week.

I just wanted to add that I really dropped all suspicion of the vaccine after I realized the military gives you Anthrax and smallpox vaccines. If you've had them you know what I'm talking about. Anthrax is Anthrax, that's all you need to know. As for the Small pox one, it leaves a decent sized scar on your arm where the tissue around the injection site is just obliterated. I have had neither fortunately, but everyone I know that did get it is still alive and well for the most part. We get a different flu vaccine every year that I don't question. I was vaccinated several times in grade school then college. Once before EMT training, another before Paramedic training, then another set of vaccine cocktails while working in the ER, then another couple in the Military. I have no Idea what most of them were, but they weren't your average set of shots you get as a kid. If I were to say I do have one thing I'm worried about it would be the chance of blood clots. But hey, what can ya do.

So far the reports seem to have been fairly even-handed, most seem to make sure to stress that government officials have stated the pause is only a pause and that they quote words such as "Precaution" and "Abundance of caution". I think it's only really massively notable that the EU threw its toys out the pram with this vaccine manufacturer and this is the one which gets itself a series of notable adverse events. Conspiracy fuel and tin-hats ahoy.

lol, with vaccines, when I was in the military, it basically "line up against the wall" and then wham bam you had your shot.

When I got out and went to a regular provider, first time I got the flu shot, I get like 5 pages of forms for "I consent..." and "PRECAUTIONS -- Do not get a flu shot if you have any of these allergies..." and I was there like, WTF? nobody ever told us about this in the military, LUL

My Moderna shot: First one, felt like just a sore arm for about 2 days, not right away, but starting a couple hours after.
My Moderna second shot ... my reaction may have been compounded by my sinus problems, but I was really, really tired and felt like crap for about 36 -48 hours...spent most of the weekend in bed (fortunately, my workplace gave me the shot Friday afternoon, so I didn't have to miss any work /s).

I saw the list of vaccines for recruits, and also for various assignments for both Canadian and US troops recently. If you're in either military, and you catch so much as a flu, they aren't going to take any blame for it.

but these motherfuckers wanted theirs

The independent body had recommended keeping the existing method for calculating MPs' pay, which links it to public sector earnings, and could have seen MPs receive an inflation-busting £3,360 pay increase next April.

MPs are currently paid £81,932 per year and have enjoyed a pay rise in each of the last six years.

I should add its been proposed they dont get a payrise this year

This confuses me, if there is no link why are more countries pausing this vaccine?

From the reports I've seen that weren't tilting at windmills, it appears that some of the concerns were certain batches may have been contaminated causing illness, and some other reports quote that the pauses in some places were due to "Extremely unusual symptoms of the rare adverse affects" which occurred after injection but with not much further info other than one which said someone had hemorrhaged pretty much everywhere in their body at once.

COVID Catharsis Corner - Reports from around the world from today, Wednesday 17th of March:

- World: 120,917,739 total confirmed cases and 2,674,151 total confirmed deaths.

- World: 13 countries have now suspended use of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

- US: As hoped for, former President Donald Trump has urged supporters to take vaccination saying it was safe and "something that works". He received his in January.

- US: Concerns raised over private companies involvement in Vaccine rollout as relationship between Google and One Medical fails.

- US: President Biden warns nation that the 4th July Independence from COVID target will not succeed if people do not continue to follow restrictions and public health measures for the time being.

- EU: Commission President indicates they are prepared to invoke article 122 of the EU Treaty, which would allow the EU to block all vaccine exports, lift intellectual property rights and patents on vaccines and even seize production facilities: "We have observed that in the last six weeks, 10 million doses have been exported to the UK, the UK is producing AstraZeneca. In our contract with AstraZeneca there are two sites in the UK that are put in the contract for potential deliveries to the EU. [...] I want to be clear on reciprocity. If the situation does not change, we will have to reflect on how to make exports to vaccine-producing countries dependent on their level of openness. We are exporting a lot to countries that are themselves producing vaccines and we think this is an invitation to be open, so we also see exports from them coming back to the European Union. The second point that is of importance for us, we will reflect on whether exports to countries who have higher vaccination rates than us are still proportionate. This about making sure Europe gets its fair share. [...] [The UK] is country number one where exports from the European Union is concerned and indeed, the United Kingdom is producing AstraZeneca. We are still waiting for doses to come from the UK, so this is an invitation to show us that there are also doses from the UK coming to the European Union."

- UK: Foreign Secretary quoted as saying “Frankly, I’m surprised we’re having this conversation, It is normally what the UK and EU team up with to reject when other countries with less democratic regimes than our own engage in that kind of brinkmanship.”

- UK: reaches 25 million people having had at least one dose of vaccine 100 days after first vaccine administered.

- UK: Vaccination opened up to people 50 years old and above, Prime Minister indicates he is to insist on having the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine later in the week.

- UK: NHS letter indicates from March 29th, vaccine supplies for first doses will be severely curtailed meaning focus of existing supply will have to be on second injections. “We have today opened up national booking to everyone aged 50 and over, so over this next period it is vital we focus on vaccinating those in cohorts 1 –9, who are most vulnerable to Covid-19, as well as delivering to the agreed schedule significantly increased numbers of second doses, which double from the beginning of April,” - although 25 million people have had their first dose, only 1.7 million have had their second so far.

- Wales: Announces £500 bonus for Medical and Social Care staff.

- Poland: To go back in to lockdown.

- Brazil: Health Institution Fiocruz warns: "The analysis by our researchers suggests it's the biggest collapse of the hospital and health service in Brazil's history."

- Australia: To send 8,000 Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines to Papa New Guinea.

- Iceland: Reopens boarders.

- Ireland: 16 people arrested at lockdown protests for breaching public health guidelines.

- India: Report indicates 6.5% of vaccine doses going to waste.

- Thialand: Sniffer dogs trained to detect COVID-19 in sweat found to have a 95% accuracy rate.

Interesting timing EU, signed CANZUK.

Maybe I should explain that a bit. So far, vaccine manufacturers and not government has been setting vaccine delivery schedules. It was also on a first come (with a check) first serves basis. The US also had this problem with Pfizer at first ... but got their act together. It's just odd for the EU to add fuel to the creation of another - and it would be competing - trade alliance.

Our close friends in Brazil just had family member come out of ICU, and another one still in ICU, its really bad down there.

I suppose with an ever evolving problem as a virus, a muddle through take it on the chin attitude carried a high risk of the situation escalating as it has there...

I saw a report with a quote from a Brazilian doctor a few days ago saying they thought the situation in Brazil was not just a Brazilian problem now - they thought it was now a global health risk.

i remember from the german military that any vaccination is mandatory and part of the contract you sign.
(There is also a judgement from the court that any soldier needs to get the covid shot)
I read in an article that currently, our military cannot require the COVID Vaccine because it hasn't actually be approved by our FDA. It is currently being used under an "Emergency Use Authorization". However, when it is approved, they can require it.
