I know a lot of people are taking the Outpost Homestead to mean player-created/owned buildings but I think it's not going to be that. I feel from what we have seen so far that they mean Homesteads to be NPC POI in expanding the buildings available at landing sites and creating more elaborate small settlements and such. While I am sure player built/owned homestead will come from this in time I do not believe this will be that.

Great analysis. Just to answer some of your questions, rhetorical and otherwise:

Loot: we're not just looking at gold plated items that do what regular game items do. We're still waiting on "consumables" that connect with every component in game that temporarily add enhancements or perks. This takes us one step closer to being able to completely modify our rides. For now we may not see these, just like we may not see gold plated sniper rifles. For now it may be we're simply allowed to loot the armor off a fallen, NPC, etc.

Bombs: in addition to thkey observations about things like no IR signature on bombs, it's worth noting they also have no propulsion, so typically do more than twice the damage for the same size package. I would not be surprised if they do 5X the damage as a same weight missile or torp.

I dunno if loot means persistance. Last I heard was all accounts would be wiped except for purchased and award items at beta kickoff. I think it depends upon the kind of loot they install and they haven't said yet.

Believe you guys are talking past each other. @maynard is talking about persistence as in items persisting beyond player local influence. IE I drop a gun on the ground of a moon and it stays there for you to loot hours later. It also means I only have access to the guns I can carry in my ship or on my person and not the magic bag of holding that currently lets me equip any gun I own.

Your talking about persistence as in the game state world persisting and not being wiped again after the start of Beta. Two separate things both right.

You mentioned Ins for revival. This would be a great money maker if an org had a "revival an recovery insurance" company within Test. A light example,
1) 10k UeC for local none dangerous situations
2) 20k UeC for local mild dangerous situation.
3) 100k UeC + for distant dangerous situational recovery.

So for wearing Test Colors, does this mean we should be looting armor from the bodies of Hurston Security?
If the armour is on a dead body, you can be rest assured that's useless armour.

I'm looking forward to those settlements, but I've to agree we shouldn't expect player-ownable building for quite some time. More likely there will be a revamp of the older POI changing them from the pre-fabbbricated pod to a more articulated contructions, may be not on all the location, but for placed like farms, minig facility and reserach aoutpost that would be interesting.
Also, since the loot gameplay, those will be a good spot to bould some treading hub, where players can gather to sell theyr loot, both to NPC or other player alike.

For Medical gameplay that is looking promesing. I'm not interested in the direct medical loop, but that opens up a lot of possiblity, like "trauma team" style org that will came to resque you inc ase of dangerous situation (TT does operate also aas a private, on the call, scurity force), and that opens up gameplay possibility for different kind of players: medica, combat pilot, FPS players...
