PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

No it's not a complete game yet ... but SC is largely what you make of it. With what they have now, I can stay interested for about a month, longer if I limit game time to just weekends. Maybe 2 months if I stretch it. I still have a major disadvantage in combat, but I'm finally starting to...

PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

In fact, I had to do a more than 50 degree dive directly toward the ground, for an alarming amount of time. It was not consistent, I had taken off and landed 3 times previously. Also, vertical flight did not work, even 90 degrees, and I even tried a vertical role. No dice. What does work...

No more Hercules A2, Orion, or Hull-E Upgrades

The land claim system will only work in UEE space. Outside of that area, anything you build will be at high risk. Inside UEE space, your land claim, if you were successful in claiming a plot, it'll be protected. However the protection the UEE will give a player owned property is a perp gets...

PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

CIG seems to have an interesting view of the physics, but as long as everyone gets the same altitude, it's fine. BTW the face down thing worked to get me out of hover mode. I was able to make back most of my losses in 2 trips. I should be able to buy armor by this weekend assuming the...

PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

LOL.. that's the spirit! I crashed and burned too, quite a bit over the weekend and I can't drink right now...so I don't even have that as an excuse till next month. But I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong. If your ship is in hover mode, then it can still travel 30 m/s. That's...

PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

hmm, that might work. I didn't try accelerating down, just up, which didn't do a thing. As soon as the ship realized it was in space, it fixed. It just took a while to get there. I think CIG needs to look at their "Distance to vacuum". On Earth for example, it's around 100,000 Feet...

PSA - Official CIG 3.6 Feedback threads and survey

The more I use the new flight model, the better I like it compared with the old kindergarten flight model. At least conceptually. It has some bugs, I'm likely to get stuck in VTOL mode more often than not, and some of my ships have view restrictions that make it difficult to tell what you're...

No more Hercules A2, Orion, or Hull-E Upgrades

This is something I've been watching, because I have an A2 and not likely to trade it in at least for the moment. It's SCM is surprisingly fast for a ship of this type, and it's armament is surprisingly strong. The A2 does have some serious weaknesses though, starting with its surface area...

Anvil Ballista revealed. $120 warbond, $140 store credit

Yes, that's pretty much how I see it too. These are for offensive maneuvers, invasions and protecting areas temporarily. And show of force. I put far less stock in NPC crew but that's just a kind of personal preference. A base is better protected by fixed positions, though it would be nice...

No more Hercules A2, Orion, or Hull-E Upgrades

They're still available, but you have to buy a package they're in with other ships... it can get expensive. Nothing bigger than the Connie Aquila seems to be in the upgrade list, and some of the ones they list will tell you "not today buddy"[sic] when you try.

    Home security systems

Hey good luck! I put myself through college working in industrial security. Had no interest in police work, but I have 2 uncles and 3 cousins who were in the RCMP, and one who's in the state police in NY. My wife has an uncle who just retired as a city police chief in Southern Texas. All...

    Home security systems

I love that! I own the claymore too. Designing security systems is a kind of hobby for me, something I wanted at one point to turn into a business but as luck would have it, that never materialized... but it flourished as a hobby. A few years ago, I designed a system, as a joke for a...

3.6 is LIVE, get in there!

Not I, with 32 Gb RAM. I haven't played SC with my 16Gb laptop though, don't think I can at the moment even if I wanted to. Think the kid "borrowed" the power supply.

3.6 is LIVE, get in there!

They have some serious work to do on the flight model too. Wow. I was landing the Connie and it was sliding down hill after the engines were off. Then it turned around, rolled and accelerated, in the opposite direction. Before coming to a complete stop it somehow ripped the engines off of...

Anvil Ballista revealed. $120 warbond, $140 store credit

They are manned vehicles, not automated. Though you might be able to use an AI instead of an actual player. No info on fire links to spotters yet, but there will be a clamor for them to hurry up with the rearming process, which I imagine will be an add on for another vehicle like the URSA or...

Anvil Ballista revealed. $120 warbond, $140 store credit

I don't think these are designed to be used alone. I can think of a few use cases where they would be highly advantageous to have around, like just after we blow up another org's base, and before the Pioneers arrive to build ours, even while they're working.

I think those are the same dimensions as the Tonk... so maybe?

    New Acceleration and Hover Mode

You've apparently hit the same difficulties I have. I mean other than the NPC cop that blew me up for not coming to a full stop... except my engines weren't even on... I turned them off to try to get them to stop firing at my apparently moving stationary ship.

    Arduino question

I love what you're doing. I used to do it too, back from 83 to 98 to help with my work, and as a hobby from 2005. Nothing serious, just something to get ideas out of my head. I discovered Arduino almost by accident in 2008, and cut my "investment" in the hobby by something on the order of...
