Hi chums. TL;DR: Which were the last generation of AMD and Intel processors that worked with DDR3 RAM? Full post: I'm not exactly cash rich (I have more priorities than funds) and with the recent issues with my game PC I thought I'd better start looking into options for a new gaming machine...

All good tips there, it very well may have been heat as the GPU has never been as loud and we are in the middle of a heat wave so it's starting temp is already around double that of its usual. Might just take the side off the case and blow a desk fan in to it.
