The Harby doesn't have as many missiles. the 8 Size 2 are bespoke launchers, plus a pair of size four mounts and a size 5 bespoke mount. The bespoke launchers on the Ares are size 3 carrying 12 missiles, plus the two size 5 mounts. And the Ares flys better than the MIS.

From the ships you listed, yes. The Ares (and the Eclipse for that matter) is the correct ship to use when your target is bigger than a Retaliator and you rather fly with a wingman than a crew.

I flew the Ares Inferno for a bit last night. That beast is fun. And watching that NPC get vaporized as he tried to ram me was a riot. Ammo is a little expensive, but satisfying. The role the Inferno is supposed to fill is already filled by my Eclipse but it was fun to fly. Now I'm tempted. :)
