    Car-nundrum

Actually it doesn't. AWD Lambos are markedly slower than read drive. AWD doesn't help much on high friction surfaces like tracks, which is why few race cars are AWD. Theoretically, if you have a car with unlimited HP, then distributing that HP across all wheels would help, but even cars with...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

I'm not seeing a range difference between ballistics over energy. Still seems laser cannons are the range champs, though the ATVS got a significant boost.

    Car-nundrum

All true but there is one other part to the equation. When you power all four wheels you essentially double the power losses in the drive system, which are actually much higher than most people realize. I once watched a contest between five what were then supercars--each up around 600 hp. The...

    let's talk about desks

I'm still thinking of going deskless. The more I learn about assigning stuff to button boxes, the less I think I'll ever need a full sized keyboard, and without that, I don't see the need for a desk. This is the first gaming chair to make me think twice about using a recliner. View...

    Car-nundrum

My condolences not only for your loss, but your situation. My EX fiance's family tried to stick me with their family hobby by "giving" me an old Corsair they wanted me to restore. It had rotted in the driveway for many years and was not worth restoring, but at one time the family owned five of...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

New changes in the missile lock angles--used to be 11* for all and now 1-4 are all 45* and the larger missiles and torps vary but most are 20*. Will make maneuvering to get a lock easier.

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

Well, I have been a strong ballistics proponent for a long time, but that may be coming to an end. I honestly don't mind practicing trigger control and that now benefits both energy weapons and ballistics, but running out of ammo after just 2/3 of a minute is FUBAR. Anyone seen how so many...

    Car-nundrum

Well, I know people won't like this answer but you did ask for our opinions. I think Benz are all vastly over-rated cars. Yeah, that is a nice car but for that kind of price you could have a 2015 XKR-S Convertible and it will outperform both those Benz's by a very wide margin in virtually every...

3.14 PTU Wave 1 is out

Is the plan for capacitors to be variable ship to ship or all very close to the same? Are we going to develop opinions about how thus n such a ship now sucks or is excellent based almost exclusively on its capacitors--something we can't change out?

675 rounds for the Revenant. That's something like 41 or 42 seconds. Crazy nerf. Who would use that now? Horrible. What a poor decision. There were so few people using gattlings already and now everyone is going to go energy. So Stupid.

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

No really it sucks that Sabres suddenly have just 2 shields. What we really want is the damned Vaduul die, Die, DIE! They all deserve to die! View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K59L55NM9vk

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

Yeah, but special hulls like the Space Turtle, have more coolers than conventional hulls. You can sneak in anything, but you can sneak in sneaky hulls much better than most.

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

Well said, and though I favor real world physics and what CIG is trying to accomplish, there are gameplay reasons for departing from these. Getting a reading of a ship's type and cargo is not possible with known conventional physics, but it sure makes for good gameplay. BTW, they're again...

    Nautilus Escort

I would not take a civilian ship of any type into a military op. If the main thing is big sensors, take an Idris. My point was thinking more toward mining Vanduul areas, where you want to get in and out unseen, and use the minefield as a trap during a later engagement. Large ships like the...

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

I think the cross section missiles presume an active scan from the missile itself, but there's no active function in game.

View: https://youtu.be/MsDqdK3wsCk Though he says you can't launch more than one kind of missile at a time, I don't know if he checked voiceattack and alpha missile strike programs. It may be you simply can't send lock data to more than one kind of missile at a time. Certainly this is a huge...

    Nautilus Escort

I was thinking recently about how to best deploy and maintain minefields. Seems to me you'd want several Nautilus in formation laying down a grid, and even though they're pretty well armed I think you'd want some escort. Mine-laying missions are nice in that they can be planned well in...

Can someone explain how to employ stealth, and the limits of its usefulness?

IMHO, the most important use of Stealth is recon. Searching for something without being seen yourself is a powerful mode. There is no real "search" however in the planned missions. I think you will need either PVP for that, or the missions that will open up in things like the Sons of Orion...
