I liked both tbh and they both equally made sense. I prefer the "take the working parts" approach to salvage and would love that kind of gameplay.
It has to secretly but not so secretly cater to pirates so a dedicated salvage/repair ship (which is really just a chop shop) would work well and I would vote it.
It will be the Drake Rake'm and Break'm.
My personal opinion is to earn it in game, it will be expensive so it's a good goal to achieve and you'll feel pretty accomplished and more experienced at the game once you get it.
