I think, regarding the squad argument, people will just naturally group together with their friends, and maybe a leader out of each of those tiny 3-4 man groups will come about. I already know who I tend to hang around with in TEST, and I suspect that group of friends will continue into the game.

I'm just passionate about the game. I won't buy any more, I can't afford it, and I'm a little worried. Even though I'm purchasing because the ships I have are excellent, a bit of it may be because I want to see the game through rather than just have good ships to start.

Probably because "general combat" ships don't really exist between the Idris and the hornet. The redeemer and most recently the vanguard are the only real competitors, while there are bunches of super specialized large ships to play with.
