Montoya Reacts to Star Citizen End Game

Join ADI. This is exactly the thinking of their supreme leader. I was there before here, so have personal experience.

    No new ship at CitizenCon?!?!?

Yes, exactly. Same for the other direction. I've been ok with selling, ah, 'excess' here within TEST, but the quagmire that is the grey market makes me want to throw up.

    In-game purchasable modules are here

This was my very first thought when seeing your post. The ship itself can be had or preferably CCU'd into for a very reasonable price by SC standards. But HOW MUCH grinding is it going to take to be able to fit the thing for any given role? There is a hope for much more clarity (and more...

SpaceX Catches Returning Superheavy Launch Booster

The engineering reason is weight. The Falcon 9 boosters have deployable legs, which are dead weight that need to be carried for the entire cycle and reduce potential payload. I imagine the legs needs for Superheavy would be huge. There may be other side benefits than looking incredibly cool :)...

    Telescopes

Todd Papy spoke about using the Endeavor Radio Telescope to scan large areas of a system while discussing the Long Range Scanning mechanic. He expressed that they were considering it to work like opening an aperture and collecting data over time. There was never anything at all about doing an...

Just wanted to preempt the Jumpgates - Rings debate currently in Spectrum

For the iteration provided to Evo yesterday, there were neither gates nor rings. The game has you fly up to the anomaly itself and trigger it with your jump drive. There is a minimal HUD assist to allow alignment; otherwise you are there on your own, face to face with an incredibly powerful...

    4.0 is Here!

Yes, Evo had some fun yesterday. CIG put up a 4:100 shard, set up with 2 game servers on each side of the wormhole. Using it was much simpler than they've shown in the past: Jump to the Gateway, fly over to the light in NAV mode. When the ship is close enough to the entrance a set of circles...

    4.0 is Here!

PSA - When you get to take your first dive through the wormhole, pick a ship that has a good view from the flight deck. Yes, for the visuals AND to give yourself a chance of staying within the tunnel. It's a rollercoaster folks.

    Server Mesh Testing: 2,000 Players

The new network code is working like a champ. I spent a few hours after the test just meandering around, I think it was the 6 server to 800 player shard arrangement. It was bloody amazing to see the server tick locked at 30 FPS the entire time.

It's a mechanical way to enforce capability limits on ships for the purpose of encouraging multicrew gameplay. I was hoping a Nursa would fit in the ES, giving a viable solo/duo Exploration option to the Corsair and Aquila. But alas, 'tis not to be. The single best way that CIG could encourage...

Correct, the bay door is not wide enough to fit any of the Ursa variants, or the ROC DS. Everything smaller is fine. I believe they did this intentionally, because there is plenty of internal space in both the CL and the ES.

Fuel prices were hammered about during Evo phase. The official response is that this isn't intentional, it was a side effect of merging several branches of code and the associated systems. Expect it to be corrected and probably quite soon, as the prices are prohibitive. It's not a Cutlass...

    Hunting with the Polaris

Theorycrafting is fun :) @Shadow Reaper does a lot of it, and while the information we have to work with for ships like the Polaris is very incomplete, painting scenarios is a good way to learn the game systems. Latest information on Scanning has three elements: a) Completely passive, good out...

    Corsair nerf incoming

It's another case of "Oh shit, we built this and it's TOO strong". Even though I don't own a Corsair, my opinion is that they should just leave it in and deal with it having the high kill counts. What has actually happened though is a bit more complex. As has been pointed out elsewhere, the...

Avenger__1 video on ship combat as of 3.24

Lots of good thoughts here, I appreciate that all of you have kicked in on the discussion. Some of my underlying 'angst' (if you will) from the original post relates to the loss of Todd Papy as Director of the PU. He had a clear idea of how it was intended to work, and an understanding of the...
