Nothing about space is safe! If there is Alpha status on the package, melting it would lose Alpha access. (Sometimes support is nice and can transfer Alpha to a new package). So if you melt your only package with Alpha status, you'll have to pay $5 per module.

I remember doing the math one night. It came out to about the same cost as buying all ships individually. You save a bit with the large pack because of the extra UEC, posters, and skins. However would you really buy all that stuff anyways?

Yeah, you can make custom content. There's a ton of options - it's mostly about learning the tools to do so. Which, I have no experience in. But would be awesome to learn. There are already several popular D&D mods that add a lot of models, then you can just adapt any ruleset you want. edit...

I believe some people have. From what I've been reading, due to copyright issues, publicly uploading the assets causes issues. However, I think it's entirely possible to do on a private basis. (i.e. extract the game assets and use for yourself) - I'm sure this will just take a bit of learning...
