and this is why I hope we'd get unencrypted read only access to market data :)

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

I don't see technical problem on decryption, but there is ToS problem. Also if it is in-game connection it would require either simuluation of in-game connection or sniffing :)

I'm out of camping for good .. my back doesn't allow it to be fun any more, that's why I stick with geek talk. As for american revolution

Hey, that's just another proof that TEST is big enough for everyone ... even for those guys who could have this geek talk for hours and days lol And it is the whole idea - while it is possible to have good life just on beer and steaks, having beer, steaks, and geek talk is even better...

I also saw this "do not decrypt" statement in ToS, and that's why I mentioned somewhere above that all of the sniffing part would work only if there is no encryption for this specific part of the data exchange. My personal expectation would be that in-game market data will be reflected on...

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

I'd totally expect in-game or out-of-game (web) app, that allow you to QUERY remotely prices of some commodities in the location that you have good standings with (and perhaps visited personally .. just for the sake of in-game progression :) )

Errm .. I love the discussion, but I am old and lazy and fail to follow. The idea of polar coordinates is simple 0. There is an arbitrary object in the middle of SC universe that is called "Level 0 center of everything .. aka "42"" all stars (or centers of masses of multistars) in the very...

Star Citizen was rebuilt in Amazon’s Lumberyard, and it only took a few days

@ThomSirveaux - I'm VERY good in vaporware myself, so it is quite difficult for me to accept that 150% of graphical features of cryengine was modified by the team that have close to 0 understanding of graphical processing, as long as this 150% wasn't somehow related to the aws cloud services...

Star Citizen was rebuilt in Amazon’s Lumberyard, and it only took a few days

I could be mistaken, but as far as I understand - lumberyard is just a version of cry engine with some aws library added, to simplify integration with this cloud solution, so most of the workload should be ripping off whatever custom integration with clustered servers was there, and replacing...

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

Let's go slowly here. 1. Yes, each polar ( 2 angles + distance ) system of coordinates assumes that 0 point is wery well known to everyone who use it, and as you quite correctly mentioned - in the universe it is quite logical to have 0 point for subordinate system known to the super-system ...

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

I'm 101% with you here (I didn't violate any ToS in this millenia yet, and hope to stay this way). The whole sniffer idea is based on two assumptions 1) packets with market data are not encoded 2) RSI approves collection of such information for informational purposes ... and it has to be...

Definitely not at every station (and even more so - not at every landing point), my assumption (to be verified) would be that WORSE case scenario is 1 bot per faction per system ( i.e. one pirate/smuggler, one trader/hunter , etc. ) .. but I hope for more realistic thing like 1 bot per faction...

I'd go one more step back, and say that better part of the idea of this thread is to understand whether we have a team that could holistically achieve some meaningful baseline (some nerds would call it feasibility study, I'd call it calculation of necessary liquid volume)

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

Oh cmon .. I'm lazy as well, but still - as it was mentioned couple of messages above - sniffing on the end user machine is potentially detectable, and also creating any program like this brings a risk of bad guys taking it and converting into hacking software .. on the other side - it would be...

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

There is no such thing as "too much information" :) ... some deviation of some exotic commodity price in some star system could mean that there is a new factory in this system, and thus some of "common" commodities will be in a need at a high price there soon .. and it would give anyone who...

IT view at the Star Citizen universe - what do you think

Manual input shall be supported but only as a backup strategy in case bots / crawlers are dead due to some rule or interface changes I hope that some kind of interface displaying prices of commodities known to the player in the locations known to the player will exist for website, and thus...

So I guess we already identify the reason why you have to be part of the club, and where club's HQ will be :) Mineral (especially toxic) rich players MUST be harvested by all means.
