I interpreted it as they are building the f7a from the ground up, using the new ship pipeline. The new workover/improvements will be applied to the other hornet models, ghost, super, tracker, vanilla, counting them to mk 2.
But because of the love for the original ships, you'll be able to keep the original mk 1 should you desire.

The big thing keeping me from really encouraging my girlfriend to pick up a Cutlass Red is that the Cutlass handles like ass. Cutlass re-truing should fix that problem.
