Well 55 hours into Anthem and I am honestly getting bored, it was great for a few weeks but I feel like its destiny all over again. I know some people are really enjoying it and I will be honest I had a bunch of fun for those 55 hours but I find myself struggling to play more than 2 hours and now struggling to even log back in.

There is no way I could see myself putting hundreds of hours into this game as it stands, this game is another clear example of selling an unfinished product with limited content, another example of promises not kept the trailers and video's they showed were not in the final product, many things were cut out of the game, reminds me of the division 1.

Anyways I know many people were wondering if this game was worth it and I can honestly say 55 hours in for me and its a no, sadly I got hooked on the demo and spent money on the early release only to find once again not even a month into the game and its boring, its repetitive and still buggy as hell. Don't get me wrong the game play is great, but everything else is junk if this is what BioWare does after 6 years of development I would say its a very bad sign of things to come.

Just my 2 cents on Anthem after 55 hours in the game.

I agree with it being an unfinished game released early.
I have 85 hours in so far.
One of the things I actually didn't notice, until I watched the angry joe extended review video,
is that the campaign is actually cut up and out of order and pieces are missing.
As if EA looked at what BioWare did and then cut it up to try to extend its shelf-life to drip feed those cutout pieces later.

Besides that, the rolls on drops are not intelligent. Every item gets random rolls of every possible stat roll, meaning stats that are absolutely pointless can get rolled onto your Legendary drop.
That's pure lazy coding IMO.

The drop rates are another argument.. but it is what it is. I'm not too upset about it... I care more about the bad rolls.

Then there is the severe lack of end game content, unintelligent AI (it is kinda mindless hack and slash in a way) and Boss fights, GM2 is insanely harder than GM1 and loot drops do not reflect that change (GM1 is easy for me btw), the coin rewards for challenges are completely retarded I get more coins just completing contracts over these stupid challenges, the end game challenges are lame for rewards and scaled incorrectly IMO (should be a few more steps in there), and the lack of customization that was promised is lame, and we can't see what our drops were until the game is over, and way too many loading screens.

Just look at this, from 2017....
compared to what we are playing now.

Now... I'll still play because I have nothing else that has the same gameplay FEEL... but.. good lord these fucking loading screens and shit drops are terrible.

Confused. Does this mean if you and I have the same weapon our weapon stats, damage, etc can still be different?

100% different. There is a picture of a masterwork weapon rolling 0s on all the stacks, it does 0% dmg over time, stacks 0 times, and does 0 dmg. I mean, nothing I'm hearing I didn't expect. This was super easy to identify during the beta, people were just having fun playing with each other and what i tend to tell people. You can enjoy a shit game with friends, but in the end its still a shit game.

this game is another clear example of selling an unfinished product with limited content,
You are just parroting youtuber talking points.

This is a looter shooter game as a service. New content will be coming down the pipe as per Bioware themselves. There is no pay DLC like Destiny that splits off the player base. The story is ongoing, they just gave us "chapter 1" with the launch.

They have a long and detailed story line, rich and deep with character and world development. You do not drop your entire story on day 1 with a live service game, you stretch it out over time. A lot of people miss on this fact.

Then there is the severe lack of end game content,
The game JUST came out!

You crammed 85hrs into 11 days! 8hrs every day since it launched!!!!

That is not normal for any casual gamer which makes up the majority of the demographic playing this.

To play 8hrs a day for the past 11 days and then complain that the game has no end game content is highly subjective and circumstantial to your experience which is very far from the normal intended experience.

Its like those steam reviews where you see the person played 1000hrs and then writes "This game is boring, do not recommend!"

If you have managed to build legendary Javelins in all four classes with overpowered abilities and weapons, and after all that say that there is no end game, well, you missed it! The loot and shoot game is exactly that! The end game is to chase the most OP builds and all their variations! Its like that in Diablo, Warframe, Destiny, Division... same across the genre.

Im busy making a video addressing these very issues.

You are not wrong in what you are saying, its just that opinions vary, but Anthem has to be judged within its genre, not outside of it.

So you are saying you paid for a game that you did not get, but in hopes of getting? Is that what gaming has come to now. Praying that the game you paid for becomes the game that was shown on an E3 trailer, ripped apart and hopefully becomes that game some day? Nothing wrong in parroting something that is true though. There is so much ive seen wrong with the game and playing the beta it made it pretty clear how much was short cutted. The Spider boss ai was garbage, the AI is garbage in general, someone though the swimming mechanics deserved to be the way it was. There is no content in the game, you paid for a full game and got half a game and this standard of gaming is worse than microtransactions, because that gives you something.

Well that sucks and doesn't make a lick of sense for weaponry. And I thought Wargaming's RNG was bad.

I did not say that. YOU SAID THAT.

I paid for a loot and shoot with Bioware story telling that is going to continue being developed as a service.

What I got was a loot and shoot with Bioware story telling that is going to continue being developed as a service.

The people complaining are the ones that heard "Bioware" and pictured Mass Effect in their heads.

They then played and realized that it was not Mass Effect and got angry.

Who is at fault here?

Nothing wrong in parroting something that is true though.
Its not true, its an opinion.

What we have here today is not the beginning, the middle and the end of the Anthem story.

This is chapter one of the Anthem story.

I guess in a way its correct because if I read chapter one of Harry Potter, I would also feel the story is incomplete.

No bonus stats will be entirely different, which do make a big difference if the stats rolled are applicable to the item. Such as my garret's hammer with Gear +100% charge... if my garret's hammer had item only stats for an electrical damage boost that would be absolutely useless as Garret's hammer is a detonator and doesn't have electrical damage to increase.. thereby making that item drop pretty much worthless.

P.S.
I LOVED Armored Core games! I really hope they reboot that franchise for modern graphics and gameplay.

Where is the game then? Ive seen mmos bring more content than this in less time. You stated youre waiting for the game to get dlc etc. People found out the story is not even in proper order. This isnt a good game ny any standards. Yes it has good point but nothing shows talent was involved. Look at the e3 trailer of in game real time footage, there words not mine and tell me they didnt bait and switch. The videos of them showing off counltess emotes and cosmetic options are missing but already in game waiting to be sold to you as new content. There is more wrong with tjis game then right. You have to wait for a raid till may. Game as a service here is a shame. If you want real game as a service standard go look at ff14. Base game 60$ had end game content, raids open world events and all updates before expansions of free. Anthem is a shitty wannabe mmo that rips the vast majority of cosmetics out in order to get people to buy them then sells them at a price litterally the price of a mmo sub.

I dislike Anthem. But I would not go so far as to call this an MMO or even compare this to an MMO. It's a lobby based shooter with story elements. To say otherwise is misleading. What Anthem does well, such as the movement and impact mechanics, some of the shooting and combo mechanics, is done quite well. The rest of the game, storyline included, is sub-par and disappointing. The loot mechanics are convoluted and broken in some cases and the story grind is disappointing. The best part, in my opinion, is freeplay. I hope Bioware can make this a great game but I dont think EA is going to allow that to happen. Division 2 is this weekend and I expect Anthem's player base to take a major hit.

First off Montoya I think its pretty unfair to call me a parrot, I could care less what you tubers say I barely watch you tube matter of fact the only person I watch consistently anymore on you tube is you. But yes I do watch reviews here and there but the fact is nothing changes or influences my opinions I am a 44 year old diesel mechanic who works 50+ hrs a week I have nothing to gain by coming on here and voicing my opinion on Anthem.

Here is my issue and its been my issue for many years, companies showing E3 videos like this one
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3C2JMg3VoI
and then a few years later gutting it, chopping it up, gimping it, whatever you want to call it and then selling us something less than what we were shown, the Division 1 did this and I made the same exact complaints then as I am now, its unfinished, its chopped, its buggy, its pathetic and once again we all bought it up and tell ourselves its ok 6 months from now it will get better they will spoon feed us updates and DLC and then maybe it will live up to the E3 trailer in game footage we were shown in 2017.

We had this same exact discussion about FO76 another horrible game that yes people found at times they could have fun but the overall reaction from the community of gamer's was shock that another AAA company put out unfinished subpar quality game at top $$ after Anthem I will not pay for early access again or get conned into the free stuff snare this has become a con job from the companies to raise sales and its making them rich selling subpar products and I am guilty of doing it.

Again I had fun in the game for my time but 2 weeks out its another Destiny game, repetitive, lacking content, the strongholds are just redone missions from the story line, the 3 types of contracts are so boring and lacking imagination its laughable, the loot systems a joke, some of the worst AI, all sorts of bugs still and the list is long with the problems this game has yet the game play was the one place it shines its fun as hell flying around and blowing stuff up to bad there isn't anything else to make you come back.

IMO

So far i think of it as diablo in iron man suits...
as a wow replacement its fine, it fills a FPS play while watching tv for an hour after work niche.
Itll be ok as a weekend play with some friends (when not in SC) niche as well.

i think alot of people seem to apply massive expectations on content which is built to be rolled out over time.
Look at all the negativity that came out after the demo... based on a demo, not even the real game.

Tech in gaming has evolved alot, and the expectations have out grown beyond what can be done quickly, this has led game companies to shift to models where they can provide content quicker, but will enevitably end up falling short of expectations.

Ive been developing large scale systems for 25 years and i can tell you the expectation management is often a bigger challenge than the actual engineering.
Theyve got a whole roadmap laying out how the new content is going to roll out: https://www.ea.com/games/anthem/acts

It will take time to find balance, i think that today game development trends are greatly more inclusive of player communities than before, i think Star Citizen may be closer to an extreme end of the scale, but i think of Anthem as being on the same path.

Anyway, 😝 quit yer bitching and go play Star Citizen instead.
